The Quality Control Gallery: 2010-11 Playoff Contenders Hockey (Second of Two Parts)

May 7, 2011

Yesterday afternoon we shared with you just some of the cool 2010-11 Playoff Contenders Hockey cards unearthed during the first round of the quality-control process. We also promised yesterday to share more of the goods in a follow-up gallery today.

Consider this us making good on our promise.

The hobby’s first-ever installment of Playoff Contenders Hockey begins shipping on Monday and will be live everywhere the following week. Here’s hoping this final sneak peek will hold you over until then.

Did you open 2 boxes of Contenders and all of this cam from those 2 boxes? Did you pull 4-5 autos per box?

Not sure how much they opened but will check with the hockey guys on Monday.

Any update on how many boxes were opened?
Thanks for the update and again can’t wait for the product.

Hey, Travis. Those cards we scanned for the gallery were just a handful of examples pulled from 10 or so QC boxes; not necessarily the best stuff pulled, just a random sampling. The average box should yield four autographs, three of them being rookies. Hope this helps.

Oh Contenders. The more pictures the more I like the product.

I am probably working on (very) outdated information, but isn’t Zenith also scheduled to come out this week/next week? Glad to see Playoff Contenders, also looking forward to Zenith, when is that expected to hit?

This set is going to redefine the Hockey rookie card. Awesomeness defined.

Despite not being a hockey collector, I think I might purchase a box or two of this. Cards look great and the inserts look incredible.

Is this leather larceny a new thing? They look pretty neat, but I have nasty memories of early sweet spot and even worse memories of acquiring my first in person autographs in sharpies.
