The Panini America Quality Control Gallery: 2011-12 Certified Hockey (46 New Images)

November 14, 2011

Things are certifaibly nuts around Panini America headquarters to start the week. Such is the case when both 2011 Certified Football and 2011-12 Certified Hockey are going out the door on the same day. (There’s also our exciting announcement from earlier today that we’ll be doing 2011 Totally Certified Football in late January.)

We brought you the Quality Control Gallery for Certified Football late last week. Today, we present for your viewing pleasure the Certified Hockey Quality Control Gallery, a devastating piece of eye candy that’s 46 images strong and provides great insight into just some of the sweet cards Panini America NHL Brand Manager Al Muir unearthed during the recent two-case QC process.

Hockey fans, rejoice.

Sweet! Another great looking product guys. And I’m glad to see the Private Signings back again. Can’t wait to see a checklist.

Once again Panini blows us away with the best patches and on-card autos in the business!!! I dont bust to many boxes of hockey because football and basketball are my favorites, but after looking at these pics im going to have to bust a few boxes. PANINI is TOTALLY Certified with me!!!!

When is this set being released? It was originally slated for 11/16 last I saw, but DAcardworld now lists it as November 30? When are we going to be able to get our hands on this…

I am not a huge hockey fan, mostly football. But these look amazing. I can’t wait til the football release is out. Fabric of the games look terrific.Certified just looks great on here but even better in hand.

    Got a checklist T?

Nice-looking stuff, I like it better than last years! We look forward to any Kopitar, Richards, Quick, etc in this product, hoping you guys put Kopi in all the cool inserts this year.

Awesome! Love the Cam Ward. Is there a Justin Faulk card in the rookie autographed jersey?

Just curious about something. Were the collation issues fixed for this season? Last year’s Certified was terrible for base collation. Love the look of the product so if the issue is fixed, all it will do is make it even better

Looks good! Any reason for the stickers for the rookies? Were these cards just not built in time for the Draft?

Appreciate the feedback. And to quote Panini America NHL Brand Manager Al Muir:

“We cannot produce the cards until the player skates, so stickers are the only way to get autos into products this early in the season.”

I understand that’s how the NHLPA works. But wouldn’t there be a group of players you might expect to hit the ice this season?

I understand that would create some risks, but I’m sure there would be a way to do something if you created something of a player that didn’t hit the ice in that timeframe. Unless I’m misinterpreting the definition of “produce”. Are “produce” and “release” the same thing here?

Either way, anything you can do to get autographs this early is a good thing.

Re: the rookies and the sticker autos – remember last year’s set? They had 4-5 guys that were tentatively checklisted but they didn’t debut at all last year, so Panini had to pick replacements. Those are just now getting out the door. It’s absolutely not worth the risk to produce cards of players that have not debuted – it only maddens collectors that have to wait a year for a redemption rookie. Panini did the smart thing here and has only live RC’s of players that have already skated this year.

Right, but I mean wouldn’t you expect someone like RNH or Landeskog to hit the ice early this season and grab their on-card autos at the NHL Draft? Even Hodgson hit the ice last season so there could have been time to grab him on-card.

I saw what happened last year with some players that didn’t hit the ice, but perhaps if it was more selective it could of been achieved for some of the bigger names.

Just my thoughts on an improvement. No way is it a complaint as Panini does a great job at getting autographs of these rookies out early. I would just love to see the success of the on-card football rookies translate to hockey, it’s just harder with the restrictions in place.

And by NHL Draft I mean Rookie Showcase. Lack of sleep does that to you.

How about a Luc Robitaille – New York Rangers Private Signings I have the Kings, Wings and Penguins one from last year… need a Rangers to complete his career!

As a true copper and blue Oiler’s fan, i’d love to get a RNH rookie card!

Looking forward to this one – I wasn’t going to be doing any Panini cases this season after last years’ collation nightmares (my 10/11 Certified case didn’t even get me one base set in 24 boxes), but after being weak and grabbing a case of 11/12 Score and seeing NO ISSUES whatsoever with collation there, I’m giving 11/12 Certified a shot again as what could be my favourite set this year 🙂

Great work with 11/12 Score – sooooo much value this year…let’s hope Certified follows on its heels!

Tracy I have been working on this set for over a year now and I have never seen an Adam Larsson #203 Freshman Fabrics. I was wondering if this card was ever made?
    Thanks in advance
