  1. Good Morning guys! Hi Tracey! I like this product! KOBE-KOBE-KOBE! I like those die cut jersey style cards, The Kevin Durant jersey card is NICE! I like the design with the name very readable on the side. Leonard ONC ARD Auto-GREAT! Is Century Star Acetate? And a CHRIS MULLIN!! SWEETTT!!!! NICE Product! Thanks for the view guys! Have a GREAT DAY! Say HEY Tracey!

  2. Threads actually looks promising.. those century stars insert is really nice.. it really pops out.. and btw Prizm looks better than I thought, I know i’ll be collecting the team USA set!

  3. Nice to see all three autos are on card and really like the design. Those wood cards look sweet as well. Nice job guys. And if you are giving away the Mullin ….

  4. Wow….this is the reason why I love Threads in all the products. The photos are always action shots and remind me a lot of collecting when I was a kid. Keep up the good work guys and I’m also excited for Prizm. Looks like I need to try and buy some Threads boxes now.

  5. Great mid-day Panini upwrapped video to tide me over til lunch time. 3 Autos per box, I like that, and rarer mem always helps the value. I also got to say, the Keith-Tracy videos are great. Great chemistry once the camera goes on, always fun to watch.

  6. Love the pictures on these cards, look awesome. The Century Stars card is really cool as well. I love how you have all the different chase cards in this set makes you want to go out and get more boxes to try and complete the chase. The on card auto’s are the way to for sure. Not sure about the Jersey shaped cards, I will have get my hands on one before I fully pass judgement on it. All in all a very cool product and great to add the Kobe pack in there as well. Thanks for the preview of this. The Prizm uncut sheet looks really sick as well, can’t wait to see what the final card will look like.

  7. I think this is my favorite product released so far this year! I really like the look of the cards, and Threads has been my favorite product made so this is a nice upgrade from previous threads product. Way to go panini!

  8. I wished I had something negative to say…not really..but I know you guys like criticism sometimes. But I just don’t have any. Thats my honest opinion. I really like the overall look of this product. The base cards look nice and fit the Threads theme. Nice looking autos including the Chris Mullin. My final thoughts is how happy I am to see this product back into the Panini basketball card family.

  9. I was so excited to see the diecut jerseys, one of my favorite inserts from any product, not just basketball but any product. The images look sharp and really stand out, much like the gridiron photos you previewed the other day. The oncard rookie autos are always a plus and these look great and of course the laser show returns! Also I was impressed with the HOF auto in Chris Mullen, the blue pen on the white at the bottom really makes the autograph pop and stand out.

Prizm also looks spectacular. I cannot wait to see the unwrapped episode when it is time.

  10. Love Love Love the on card autos. Great design look this year and the Kobe bonus packs are a great added bonus. Another great one from Panini.

  11. Love the new product! Like how its all on card autos and the cards look awesome. Really like the look, and both draft classes of rcs!!!

  12. Im a girl who collects basketball because its fun, and I love panini products! For this product I like the detail of the cards, and I love the on-card autos and of both rookie classes. Threads is a great product and always has been, but I miss the letterman autos you did for Panini Threads 09-10. This is still a great product nothing less, but one thing I would have liked to have seen is numbered cards. Otherwise its another great Panini Product and can’t wait to bust a few packs of it!

  13. Wow. The Panini Threads looks really promising! Great job Tracy Hacker and Keith Hower for a very exciting box opening and that Prizm is really sizzling! You guys are the rock stars of the hobby world!
We love that bonus poster of Kobe Anthology per case. And that century stars, wow, very nice detail and a pure quality inserts, the attention to detail is astronomical.
We are also loving the variety of inserts especially the jersey cards.
Signage really really pops out, its so clean and a must for hobby collectors!
Kudos to all Panini staffs for great work and giving us great product here. The time you guys and girls spent here shows up. Thumbs up. Love it. Plus the on card on WOOD double class rookie autographs looks amazing!
    Love The Threads, love it!
    Thanks!

  14. Love the look of the Wood autos again, are much improved from previous release. The Vertical positioning of the card and portrait look makes it look more crisp. Love the triple threads and the colour code in base. Only thing the series needs improvement with would be the base set, Very bland, would love to see the base set to have a thread/jersey cutoff border or coloured border theme based on the team. Looking forward to getting some of these over to Australia.

  15. Thanks for showing the break guys. The design of the cards has evolved, but the cards remain identifiable as Threads which is a good thing. The player jersey die-cuts are very distinctive to this set and the on-card rookie autos are great. A lot of nice insert sets as well for set chasers. Also, it’s not evident in this video because both rookies are from the 12-13 class, but I like the photo differentiation between the rookies from 11-12 and 12-13 class.

Not a lot of negatives for this set. I think with Threads most collectors have a pretty good feel for what they are getting.

  16. I have been craving some new basketball products! This year is going to be special with the double rookie class. I can’t wait to get my hands on a box! This stuff looks better then ever!

  17. Hello, and first off, thanks for the giveaway contest, that’s very cool of you guys to do!

As for the product, the first thing that stands out by far is the photography, and as others have stated it definitely is reminiscent of some of those great 90’s sets. Sports card photography seems to have gone on the decline lately as it’s been largely replaced by individual player photos are manipulated to fit the sit, but still, nothing is better than a solid action shot where you can see the play and not just the player. Also, the on-card autographs are very nice, and the design fits well, so kudos for that!

I like the cards shaped like a jersey, but there may be too many of them in the box. Not a bad idea or design, but I think if people open a lot of these they will get a bit old. Also, the insert designs are definitely getting better, but I think there is still some room for improvement. I’m not stuck in the 90’s but I do realize the 90’s inserts really made the cards collectible for the younger kids, while still providing rarer chase cards for the high end collectors.

So I think overall this is a really good product and you can really see how you guys are improving as you progress, so hopefully this will quiet some of the people saying you are getting complacent. Card collecting is fun, or at least is meant to be, and this product certainly seems to be an enjoyable break with lots of inserts and something new in every pack. Nicely done Panini, and keep up the good work!

  18. Love this set. The photography is great, especially on the Talented Twosome. That Jeremy Evans High Flyers is a must get. Century Star looks phenomenal, will be trying to pick up that set. Checklist looks solid too.

  19. I agree with Jeffrey above – the action photography, amount of detail, and clarity of the images remind me a lot of Gridiron. And that’s a very good thing!

  20. Also have a general question. When will info on the Draft Redemption “Draft” come out? I know it was scheduled for the 26th or 28th, but we haven’t heard a word about it. Thanks

  21. This is another great product being cranked out by the savvy folks over at Panini! Threads Basketball in particular will be a product that collectors of all sports will love.

First is for the reason that the rookie autographs on the wood have a distinct feel and also vintage look to them. That is the best of both worlds for most collectors! As well, the Signage cards are absolutely beautiful in design and the checklist is full of the games greatest players from today and yesterday!

Second, as an autograph fanatic, I love this product for the base cards. They are crisp with vivid images and a larger checklist. They will look really nice with signatures on the base cards, which I plan on building the master set. In fact all your autograph sets in this products are large enough for the set builders yet also have on card goodness that we all love.

Congrats as well on Prizm! The product will surely be a unique item to the trading card industry and basketball card collecting.

    Thanks Again Panini!

  22. Very nice looking product this year. The background seems to really stick out. Great player selection. Overall a great job.

  23. just watched this during my lunch break, and I know the response is supposed to be for Threads, BUT! Let me release my excitement for the PRIZM cards as well… WHOAAAA THOSE PRIZM CARDS LOOK SO EPIC!!! I’m jealous you got to see them Tracy! Ahhh the close up was awesome. Looking forward to that release.

Now onto the Threads Basketball… NICE! The fact that there are the two rookie drafts worth of on-card wooden rookie possibilities BLOWS MY MIND! I mean, even just this years rookie oncard autos woulda been cool, but the fact that both of them are pull-able just makes this release fantastic and better than before. I’ve always been a fan of rookie card collecting, so I’m hoping to save up money from my chores and get a box of Threads. And I got to say I’m impressed with the inserts this year, they actually feel like they are designed inserts and not just a different photo of a player on a card (especially that 1 per case card, looks pretty epic, nice pull Tracy make sure to tweet that you pulled it haha.)

    Thanks for the vid again!

  24. Really nice looking cards. On card autographs are sweet and its cool to see the legends, Chris Mullin, in there with the young guys. You really got some great pictures in taking a glance. I really like the jersey die-cuts. It seems like a simple concept but the cards really look great. Only thing I would change with the jersey die-cuts would be to put the player’s name on the top of the jersey (like it is on their actual jersey). I heard you mention that some of these may be autographed which is awesome…but it would be neat if the whole card was from a game used material. Just an idea. Great looking set….On another note, those Prizm Team USA Cards are awesome looking with the metallic flag. Great stuff

  25. Really intriguing product! Love the rookies as well as the unique insert sets. Not much of a basketball guy but I think it’s time to expand my horizons 🙂

    Great video guys!

  26. I love it. The laser-cut cards are sweet, really creative…& the outside the box thinking and technology that go into crafting the insert sets really set them apart.
3 Autos-1 mem’ per box is impressive value, especially given the upside of the rookie class. Lastly, Chris Mullen should teach “penmanship” to some of the young ballers.
Well done, Panini… looking forward to seeing more of the upcoming “Prism” release.

  27. I think it’s a great set with good inserts and nice autos and memorabilias. Next time it would be great if you would have more content on the cards (like “Inside the numbers” in Prestige Basketball).

  28. Not used to seeing Steve Nash as a Laker..century stars die-cuts WOW…great job on slow sliding the last auto of Chris Mullin Tracy…always grab a laugh with your entertaining singing Tracy…lol…to funny…

  29. Very exciting and Enticing Panini Threads preview!
I’m new in hobby world and I collect basketball cards.
The Threads will be sure a favorite among collectors like me.
    Love the on wood signatures.
The signage of a Chris Mullin newly inductee of Hall of Fame really pops out. Very Clean design.
I’m also loving the poster and a free Kobe anthology per hobby box. That’s why I love Panini for the quality and care for us collectors!
Thanks and more success to you guys Panini!
This is a well deserve celebration!

  30. Absolutely fantastic preview. Really love some of the ideas Keith and his team have managed to get into actual production.

2012-13 Threads looks loaded with cool stuff!
That century star insert with the cut-out stars is really amazing, and should be a tough but extremely fun and satisfying set to chase!*
Nice clean and glossy action photography base set. The return of the highly appreciated wood rookie autos (on-card!!).**
Really welldone signage veteran on-card auto set, with a clear designated white section with enough room for the players to sign their autograph.***
Cant forget the die-cut jersey cards which is a really cool set, and from what i have experienced also a nice attainable subset for the younger nba fans to collect!****
Making the memorabilia much rarer and falling only one per box is great incorporation of fan critiques, and also seen some very nice 3-player mems, awesome!*****
    5 stars it is!

Only point of advice i have for this upcoming basketball card season is that the double rookie class might dominate products and could possibly mean a very limited amount of new veteran autos coming out? If you guys can find a way to get a good balance between the double rookie class and veteran autographs, i can only say im thrilled for what these next few months will bring!

That uncut prizm sheet looks great. It reminded me a lot of the Finest refractor look. But with this new technology and added depht and detail to players, basketball, jerseys and player outlines this primzs to be promising, promises to be prizm?! My head’s spinning from all this added depth and detail.

After a season with few basketball products due to the lockout, i can honestly say that Panini Basketball is back with a vengeance!!

  31. This probably is the best product in my opinion. Love the die-cuts, On Card Autos. Big Thumbs up to Panini, Well done.

  32. Thanks Panini for putting the name of the player on the front of the auto’d RCs. The last Threads release made it difficult to know who your rookie card was until you turned it over. I look forward to busting some of this new product.

  33. You hit the full-court buzzer shot and won the game!

Despite a down year in terms of star power in 2012 rookie class, you managed to produce a high quality product for low to high-end budget collectors.

    Pros:
    1. On-card autos. Mullin signage auto card is mouthwatering and I am certain some collectors would be trying to build a complete set of this. I am excited to see what other signage cards look like.

    2. Jersey cut cards- i just love it! I might build a complete set of this one.

    3. If this box break is a sign of what collectors can expect, box breakers will come away happy with the value of hits.

    Cons:
    1. Had to be really picky to find a con. I read the checklist and I was surprised to see Kevin Martin and Carlos Boozer included in the “Century Stars” insert. Those two guys are more of role players than stars.

Overall, 5 stars out of 5!

  34. i am more of a football and baseball collector but these cards here may convert me to try basketball! the chris mullin is pretty sweet. threads is a staple of panini basketball it seems and this product and design wont disappoint the basketball collectors or newbies getting into basketball collecting! thanks again guys for these great unwrapped previwes of products and chances to win a box! no body does it bigger than you guys! take care.

  35. Holy Smokes Panini!!!!! All I have to say is awesome on this video review of 2012-13 Threads with a sneak peak of Prizm. I love the look and design of the entire Threads product, especially the ON CARD AUTOS and the die cut jerseys. I would of loved opening that box for the KD game jersey—Sonics comin’ back—- and the Meyers Leonard auto–adopted the Blazers until the new arena is built and the Green and Gold is on the floor again. That was a lot of packing that the venerable Keith was talking about but well worth it for on card autos from this huge rookie class. Just AWESOME and I hope to get a box soon–winning one would be even better!

  36. The set looks awesome. I still love the jersey die-cuts. Also loving how they are on-card autographs, rather than only stickers. The photo-driven inserts look very nice, as do the base cards. Overall, great job. This is the one early season basketball set I was most looking forward to, and it looks as if Panini has not disappointed!

  37. Nice work again, can’t wait to get my hands on couple of boxes and prizm looks great I’m going to go broke but I’ll love it

  38. I dont have any on card autos in basketball products made by Panini.I do have on card autos out of 2011 absolute football. Its nice to know that i have a shot at my first hard signed basketball auto by Panini America!

  39. Hey panini great product I love the die cut jerseys those are probably my favorite basketball cards. I love that you put in more autographs and shorter printed jersey cards. But what i love best is the look it is absolutley out of this world i hope you guys pick me for the free box, since i dont have much money cause im only 14 and i pro0bably wont be able to afford a box. thanks for the great product

  40. Thanks for the shout out!

Keith had mentioned there is a Red Retail version. Are these serial numbered and now often do they fall per retail pack? Is there a retail version for the rookies?? Finally, so I have this all right, there is base, century silver #/99, centuey gold #/25, century platinum #/10, and retail red??

  41. Wow! Great work Panini! I love how you guys inserted Hall of Fame autos such as Chris Mullin! A little ironic how you guys pulled that Kevin Durant jersey card. I love all the on card autos-after everyone complaining about sticker autographs you guys give them something they can’t complain about:) One thing that did concern me a little was the on card rookie autos on the wood. It could have just been the camera angle, but some of the pictures of the players looked a little bit scratched. Another thing I noticed was as cool as it is to pull those die cut jerseys, too many of them could be a bad thing. You want quality over quanity anyday. They are sweet, but a lot on the market might not be the way to go. I just remembered- by far my favorite insert card would be the floor generals cards. The medal on the bottom with the point guard running the show-love it! As always I am thrilled with another Panini product hitting the shelves for collectors like me to buy. Keep up the great work Panini!

  42. Busted a box and a half of this today as well. Love Love Love that you get 3 on card autos and only 1 Jersey card. Especially at this price point. Sweet Fancy Moses on the Prizm cards, unreal! Cannot wait to see those finalized!

  43. Hi panini, to be honest I wasn’t so excited about threads when I first heard about it. After watching the box break my opinion of the product changed completely! Threads is an amazing product from the mem cards to the on card autos. To me threads is the #1 stunner in the world of sports cards. I am looking forward to collecting these cards soon. Thanks again panini for another awesome product!

  44. I am really excited for this product. The jersey die-cuts are really great for IP or TTM autographs. Also there are the 1st on card autos of the double rookie class! This is something that will have collectors going crazy! Especially if they have a PC of one of those rookies. The details on the base cards are spectacular! They just show so much more details than the Hoops and Prestige set. The effects add a really nice look to the cards, too. As always the wood and jersey die-cut autographed cards are some of the signature cards to this product. They bring out some of the uniqueness in different kinds of cards they have now days. These cards also bring out a great mash of rookies, veterans, and retired players. The inserts are also very colorful. The inserts bring out some really nice views and and action photos that people might not get to see. Lots of people criticize Panini for not aving that good products and ruining that they are ruining basketball cards. But I think Panini in their 2012-13 line have shown some fresh and brilliant designs. I have a youtube account and I watch some people that do some IP on youtube and they said that Presitge and Hoops are great sets for doing In person autographing. They also said that even the players liked the design of prestige. I can’t wait to get my hands on this product and I really can’t wait for NBA Prizms to come out! Overall I would give this product a 9/10. Thank you Panini.

  45. Basically anytime Panini comes out with a basketball product I’m excited so this is amazing. Love the base and autos, thanks for the contest Tracy.

  46. I have to say, job well done Panini! The flow and pop of the cards are outstanding. For example, the Century Greats really pop out nicely. I really love how the autographs are all on card and on woodstock. It really makes for a great auto with the raw look of the sharpie on the wood. One thing, that Vince Carter card. I cannot take my eyes away from his “hair” haha. Go back and look at it. As you see the person behind him makes it look like he has hair from a distance. The Talented Twosomes was another triple double in my book. You guys used some great clear images especially on those and it really brings the twosomes to life. I am loving the landscape memorbilla cards! Especially the one of my boy KD! And lastly the Century Stars. What more can you say? The creativity and thought alone makes me want to buy a case! Keep up the amazing work guys!

As for Prizm, I am drooling over the Team USA cards. What you guys did with the background of those cards really make them high class. Loving the idea of the engraving also!

Your fan from Tulsa, OK Oh yeah, THUNDER UP!!!!!

  47. 2012-2013 Threads is another great Panini product. The rookie on card – wood autographs look unique. The photography on the cards is eye candy and rich in details. I also must say there is a nice variety of inserts and the century stars is stunning. When i saw that Chris Mullin signage card my heart skipped a beat. Thanks for another great unwrapped video Keith and Tracy you guys are the best.

  48. this is a great product i am getting couple boxes tomorow and will do a live break as well, really apreciate your effort to put both rookie years auto in this box,the the twosomes inserts looks amazing, there is some great photos, the high flyers too, cant wait to get the boxes in hand, and hope to pull somenice die cuts jerseys!!!!!thanks again guys for bringing the best product to all off us!!!!!!!!!

  49. I love the product. My favorite part is that there are legends and rookies so you have a variety. I also am loving that they are on card thanks Panini! Love those die cut jerseys as well one of my favorite things every year of threads! THANKS PANINI!

  50. awesome set
love the clean bold cards and the new photos. They look real sharp and 3 autographs at this price point is pretty good.

    pros
    on card autographs
limiting jersey cards (1 per box instead of 2-3) makes them more collectible
    on card rookies
    great photos and inserts
    kobe anthology

    cons
    not enough shiny cards HAHAHA

nice prizm looking foward to that

  51. As I have never opened a hobby box before, this product looks stunning right out of the box. Panini threads has been my favorite panini basketball product since it came out in 09/10 and i’ve always wanted to get a box. The matte finish makes the box look clean cut. As for the cards, I love the incorporation of the Kobe anthology pack. I also really enjoyed the bringing back of the jersey-shaped inserts and rookie on card/wood autographs. The base and inserts have a nice finish and are overall well-rounded. One thing that improved the product even more is the ratio between auto cards and memorabilia cards (3:1). I really appreciate what panini has done for basketball card collectors. I hope i win and open my very 1st hobby box. THANKS GUYS 🙂

  52. Like the on-card autos, definitely. Regular cards look sharp as well. The prizm preview was certainly interesting. Great to see Dr. J and Moses Malone 76ers cards!! Thanks

  53. Great product guys. like the glossy design and subtle foil accents. great photos and variety of inserts, should keep me and other collectors entertained for as long as they last on the shelves. thanks a bunch panini

  54. As agirl and not alot of them collecting I would personnally love a box to help me start collecting basketball. These are aswesome and would help jumpstart my collecting.

  55. Threads looks pretty cool. Love the PRIZM cards…Those photos are going to be Totally Certified on steriods…Great stuff and love that Mullin…Going to pick one of those up for myself!

  56. Really loving Panini Threads, I haven’t really bought much basketball the past few months but this changes it. Great product with a nice checklist and on card autos! Really loving it, hope to pick up a few 76ers. Great work Tracy & the rest of Panini’s team.

  57. Lmao ya know, i was just posting on here about a month ago about how cards used to look sooo much nicer back in the day, with a lot more flashy-ness too em. Way to make me eat my words guys. Threads was my favorite bust last year, and it looks great this year too. Lotta nice lookin cards, love the wood cards(prob my favorite). Not a real big fan of the small jersey cards, just seem kinda cheesy to me when im holdin em. Prism looks awesome too by the way, sure solves my flashy-ness prob!! Cant wait for the draft!! thanks guys!!

    1. ps. tytytytytytyty for cutting down on the jersey cards. Dont get me wrong, i love em when they have an auto on em. but it just seemed like there were sooooooo many out there they had no value left to em. getting mem should be a reallly good thing, not common place. it just cheapens the whole experience

      1. I agree. Over the last bunch of years, across all brands, sports and companies, it seemed like most of the memorabilia cards were single color small swatches, and unfortunately most of the time from some bench player/role player or a late season call up type guy. Occasionally, one would get a star player or a particular design was innovative and attractive. Numbered doesn’t really do it anymore, either unless it is a REALLY low number. (side note-back in 1992, I got one of the first numbered cards in a box-ELITE Series Joe Carter /10000. They were hot cards, I think I traded it for a whole box of Donruss back then, but over the years even numbering has gotten a bit watered down) If the mem cards in this product are harder to find (inserted less), then I think that is a good start. I don’t think there is anything more disappointing than getting a box of cards from any company, opening it up, looking at the “hits”, and realizing that you basically got like $10 worth of hits from a $100 box.

  58. Thanks for doing another fun break guys! It looks like Threads is an outstanding product this year with great designs, high quality action photography and a very desirable mix of hits with the 3 autos and one memorabilia card. From what I saw in the video, I really think the designers hit a homerun with many of the cards in Threads. For example, the Jabbar Century Greats insert that Tracy pulled is gorgeous and the Mullins on-card Signage auto has to be one of the most attractive auto card designs I’ve ever seen. On top of all that, you guys pulled that awesome wooden rookie auto card of my Illini guy, Meyers Leonard, and it is now my absolute favorite card of the year. Well done!!

Thanks also for giving us a sneak peak at the upcoming Prizm cards. You guys at Panini keep pushing the envelope in terms of design and technology, and it looks like the Prizm cards will be beautiful when they’re done. Based on what you showed, I can’t wait to get my hands on some and see them in person.

Keep up the good work guys because it just keeps getting better and better.

  59. I’m glad that there are so many on card autos, though I am one of those collectors that prefer memorabilia cards to autos. However, Prizm looks amazing. The mock ups you showed us earlier just do not do these cards justice.

  60. Very nice! Can’t wait to get my hands on the wood cards and the Century Stars case hit, although I’ll have to get pretty lucky to pull one of those from a pack. Love the Prizm preview too. Those look great!

  61. Threads really looks great this year. I love how far you guys went, with giving the collectors up to 8 hits per box. That’s totally awesome even at 2 boxes per 8 box inner. The inserts are great too, there’s a insert to go with every player special mark of their game.. The Signage autos look crazy too, and if even half of them are are good and clean as the Chris Mullin then we’re in for a treat!! Looks great from the start to the finish, the Hof players in the inserts to the rookie stars. Now,onto the Prism those cards blew my mind! Im only at a computer but I could tell the splitting edge design and innovation of the new great cards. They look like some solid keepers for many Basketball personal collections. Keep us informed with Prism updates and all the up to date news. I cant tell you how much it means to get some inside news, and sneak peaks its really good of you guys to do it for us. Thanks for everything.

  62. Panini is now my number 1 in sports cards all around. I restarted collect baseball cards a couple years back mainly bowman after about a 20 year break from football and baseball card collecting. not a big fan of basketball so I never collect them. Earlier today I watched the Gridiron unwrapped and decided to start collecting panini gridiron from now on but from the looks of the basketball I might have to try some of the other Panini product out also. Keep up the Great work guys from one of your newest fans

  63. As always, another great video of Panini Unwrapped. I do like Panini’s use of variety in all of the on-card autographs throughout all of the products. The wooden on-card autos are a nice addition to this set with the double rookie class. However, I feel that the die-cut jersey cards aren’t that amazing in my opinion unless they’re signed since it feels really plain without it. I must say that to pull a Chris Mullin Signage auto and a Century Stars card in the same box was really lucky! Finally, I like the Century Greats inserts as it’s a tribute to some of the greatest people ever to play the game.

  64. I dig it. I dig it all. The die-cut century stars are innovative. I love the return of the wood autos. The photos like you showed on the John Wall are getting a great stylized touch that gives Panini an aesthetic identity apart from the other products out there. I think, though, the set that I would most be after are the Prizm Team USA cards that you previewed from the sheet. They just have that “look” that makes you want to own them–no other way to describe it. I like the depth the Prizms will have and I’m glad we get to see a new product coming out to push the boundaries of your designs.

  65. Hello good people at Panini! I knew you guys would deliver another great product this year to follow up with all the great products released this year so far such as Prestige and Hoops, but instead, you surpassed my expectations with all the great looking inserts and quality of the new Threads base cards. It’s obvious Panini continually strives to increase the quality of their products while listening to both loyal long-time collectors and new ones for feedback of our great products. I’m glad to see how well the on-wood autograph cards came out and am really liking the high-quality look of the jersey cards, especially the sick Kevin Durant. I’m 100% sure that Panini will continue to release high-quality products that bring back the childhood joy of opening not just a pack of cards, but a bridging the gap between sports fans and the amazing athletes we’ve watched and looked up to as kids and as kids at heart. The future is looking bright for Panini ( Almost as bright as the chrome in the upcoming Prizm set ), and I can’t wait to see what else you guys bring to the table. As always, thank you again for all that you do and the great joy of pulling a card from your great products.

  66. Ok I’m back…’cause you guys totally blew me away with that presentation and plethora of sweet looking cards. Just so you know I got in a break the night before I saw this video. Hopefully I can pull Andrew Bynums new Philly card as well as Dr.J, And Moses Malone. What a birthday treat that would be. Anyway I’ll be honest. I didn’t see anything I did not like. Nothing. The only thing I can say that bothers me is I doubt I’ll be able to get every card in Threads basketball. Even more unlikely Prism. I know you guys went thru a lot with Prism but something tells me it’s not going to be in my price range. Which already bothers me. But back to Threads. I love the HOF players. They are more of my generation. It’s great there are so many in there. Would love to see a set of just those in all the different designs. You guys did a great job with Threads so let your “artists” know that for me. Again thanks for always putting your best foot forward and releasing a great product. Here’s hoping I land Dr.J, Moses Malone, Andrew Bynum and all my Sixers during Sundays break!

  67. The thing I love about Threads basketball is the on wood rookie auto. Though sometimes I wish there was a special coating on top to help protect the auto from easily smudging which I’ve seen quite a few on. Nonetheless a great set to put together. Also I really like the Century Stars inset set. The die cut stars laser cutout reminds me some of the old school inserts they use to do back in the days which is always nice! Thanks for sharing Tracy!

  68. As a collector I like value and bang for my buck. I tend to stay away from high end products unless it’s part of a group break or i’m buying singles off an auction site. Threads is in my price range that I feel comfortable buying. When you are talking 3 autos and 1 game used per box and the fact that it’s under $100 a box right now, who wouldn’t want to try a box or three?

I love the fact that the Century Stars insert is a one per case deal. It brings me back to my collecting youth when there were no autos or game used and inserts were king . I love the look of the dual rookie class on card autos but then again who doesn’t. Always nice to see the die cut jersey cards and the possibility of autographed version are cool as well. The game used Durant card you showed looked spectacular. As always it’s nice to see retired/ veterans autos like Chris Mullin, a player who I watched growing up but didn’t have autographs available in the products I purchased as a preteen/ teen.

I love the first cards showing the players in their new jerseys. The attention to detail like this puts Panini above other companies. The cards overall are visually stunning to look at and like I can’t stress the overall value in this year’s Threads considering what it took to get the rookie autographs compared to the cost of the box itself. You sunk a full court shot Panini.

    ps. Prizm is drool worthy

  69. Outstanding work Panini! Awesome product! I love the on card wood court autos and definitely the century stars inserts! That is amazing how you guys pulled a century stars insert with the cut stars in the top falling only one per case! One thing I did notice was as cool as those jersey inserts were, there were a lot of them. I think less die-cut jerseys would make collectors appreciate the cards more, but if they are 1 per 2 or 3 packs- then it might not go very well. They are still super cool though. I am amazed that there are HOF autos in this product. I did not know that until you guys pulled that awesome Chris Mullin auto! I do want to congratulate you guys on having great card designs on everything. Threads is very unique. Another thing is I love the jersey cards-the Kevin Durant card really looked breathtaking on that color coordinated background. Keep up the great work Panini!

  70. I am more into getting an autograph than a single swatch of game jersey, especially those single color jersey swatch. Providing mid-low level four hits per box, I like the outcome from the thread BKB that contains at least 3 auto. It is a easy winner among other boxes~~~

  71. I am basically a die hard hockey fan. I have only ever collected Hockey cards and only ever watched/followed hockey, but thanks to the lockout I have to look for something else to occupy my time with. I have been watching more and more basketball and looking into collecting Basketball cards. This product would be the perfect introduction to Basketball as was mentioned in the video it has great value. There are a ton of different cards which would make the break very enjoyable and the photography and insert designs are very well done. I love the fact that you get three autos in each box and only one mem card (especially since making the mem cards rarer will make them more collectible). The Rookie autos on the wood background look great and I love the die cut jersey cards. There is just so much to enjoy with a product like this. AS someone looking for a first time Basketball product I am not going to look to the high end products, but this product is perfect for me. Thanks for making great cards that appeal to even the beginner fans like me!

  72. I love these autographs especially the Marshon Brooks Rookie Auto. Less mem and more autos provides more value to a collector. I think that the more autos the better per box so for me this product is swell !

  73. really nice product love the on cards autos the classic die cut jerseys and a bounus this year a kobe pack!!!!! just when you thought threads couldn’t get better!!!! my favorite b-ball product of the year finally arrived and exceeded my expectations WOOOOO!!!!

  74. Hi Tracey!
This Threads set looks amazing and the detail and finishes on the cards are the best so far. I love the Kobe anthology set and have been waiting for the newer cards from this set to be released with the newest Panini product. Can’t wait to get my hands on a box!!!

  75. Great product again and the Signage autos look great. And the wood auto horizontal look better. Great job again guys!!!

  76. Maybe you guys should simply release 1 product this year, you could name it “12/13 Same Product Over and Over Again” How does this differ from Prestige?? 3 boring low end products that should’nt have and MSRP of more than $50 so far this year. Oh yeah, Private Signings again?!?!?! Are you kidding me? Oh well, pre 09/10 boxes again for me (and A LOT of others as well) this year.

  77. Being a Cavs fan it’s hard for me to collect basketball since LeBron, but now with Kyrie I’m looking to get back into it again, and this looks like the perfect set to do it on. The die cut jersey cards are by far the cooled looking basketball cards I have seen. Add in 3 ON CARD autos per box and BOOM!!!! The wood cards look very nice as well and the dual player cards are a neat new (as far as I know) concept. Well done on these cards as usual and I am looking foward to busting some!!!!

  78. Prizm looks very nice. Im interested in what the other cards will look up. As for Threads, Im excited about the new product and having on card signatures for the rookies. I really like the Wood autos. But I wish they were numbered. I bet some of the better players are SP’d but it would be nice to see just how SP.

  79. Panini! I just started collecting NBA cards and so far i love it! I always get great hits with you guys and i’m really looking forward to unwrapping one of those Prizm Basketball packs! They really nice! I love what you guys are doing with these cards, it’s great! Keep up the good work and a big thumbs up to everybody at Panini!

  80. The product looks beautiful! The on-card rookies are really nice and I love the up-close shots of the rookies. The base cards have a nice finish to them and I feel that they are much improved over last year. The inserts as a whole have great varieties of players that will quickly catch fire in the hobby, especially those immaculate century stars. I am happy with the return of the jersey die-cuts, although I must admit that I miss the last names of the players being on the back as they were in previous years. I really like the nice big window on the jersey cards. The Signage set is amazing and I love the players you guys put into the set, players that we don’t normally see sign, like Finley, Grant Hill, and Mullin. Finally, that Prizm looks gorgeous! Really exited for that porduct. As a younger collector, I hope to be able to try out one of these eipc Threads boxes!
P.S.- Thanks so much for all these on-card autographs guys, they make the cards looks all the better. Thanks for caring about us collectors!
    Thanks again guys!

    1. So I’m breaking a box and have pulled a signage auto of Cedric Ceballos of 90’s Suns fame. Wow, I liked Ceballos back in the day…gritty and tough.
      Love that funky Threads product!

  81. Hello again from the Philippines, Tracy! I specifically love the design on the base and the insert cards on this product. As usual with Threads, what stands out for me are the Team Threads. It’s unique, and eye-catching jersey die-cut rookie/veteran autographed card. Then there is the wood on-card autos. Just wow! The 1 per case Century Stars are amazing too! It’s like looking for a gem on every box. What I am missing are those Rookie Class letter-patch autos from 09-10 series. Those were wonderful auto cards for rookies. I also wish that there were more HOF legends signing this product. Legends’ auto on that wood-like cards would be a perfect fit, putting an old classic look and feel. Just my 2 cents guys. Adding to the plus side, the Talented Twosomes are superb as it captures the on-court action of every team’s best duo. I think it gives out a message and a reminder that basketball is, and always will be, a team sport. Overall, I like the design and concept of Threads. Design team put on the best photos and design that make every single card collectible. Applause to the whole Panini team!

  82. I think its a great product. I’m hoping to pull a Rose auto. Box looks crazy great and I can’t wait. Hopefully if I win a box I can pull a Rose auto.

  83. Pretty stoked to see this release, Threads is an excellent program in any sport. Great job with the rookie autos in the packs, but my favorite insert has to be the Signage set. When I was younger and people were trying to be Jordan, Magic and the like, I was far more realistic for my skills and frankly complexion so I tried to mimick Chris Mullins. Great to see an auto of his pulled in the break! Thanks as always Tracy and “The Venerable!”

  84. Thanks to everyone for participating in this contest and for helping us to make our products better with your feedback. We selected four winners this time, and each will receive a box 2012-13 Threads Basketball. Congratulations to . . . K Chan, Nick Rader, Joe Tozzi and David Bonneville. We’ll be in touch soon to get your mailing addresses.

Thanks again to the greatest fans and customers on the planet.

  85. I was out of town when Threads Basketball hit the shelves. I picked up a pack and took it back. I started opening it. Came across the usual good “suspects” – Kevin Garnett, Rudy Gay, Russell Westbrook, John Wall, an Inside Presence insert. Then I pulled a Marshon Brooks swatch. Nothing to complain about there, very satisfying pack. Then I see a card with a curious wood look. How about, ALSO a wood ROOKIE SIG! Thanks so much, Panini!!!
