The Panini America Quality Control Gallery: 2012 Americana Heroes & Legends (Part 1)

September 2, 2012

Perched quietly and patiently in the back there, perhaps disguised by the considerable buzz of recent Panini America sports releases such as 2012 Prime Hockey, 2012 Rookies & Stars Football and 2012-13 NBA Hoops Basketball, sits the upcoming 2012 Americana Heroes & Legends, an eclectic, history-soaked tribute to Olympians, astronauts, presidents, Medal of Honor recipients and so much more.

Late Friday afternoon, Ben Ecklar, Panini America’s Director of Product Development, hand-delivered a revealing sleeve of hits from the recently completed quality-control process for 2012 Americana Heroes & Legends, a stunning compilation of tributes to the likes of the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team, past gold-medal-winners, American war heroes and the legendary Tuskegee Airmen.

We’ll have much more on this historic release in the coming days, including a gallery of Tuskegee Airmen cards and autographs and a look at the unique four cut-autograph cards featuring actual General stars from Dwight D. Eisenhower’s Army uniform.

But for now, enjoy the first part our extensive QC gallery:

All seriousness Americana line of cards is one of my all time favorites. Looks like this is another one of them. Nice to see a more traditional release this year compared to how it has been in the past.

Will there be patches or autos of the Medal Of Honor Recipients? I think a photo of them in their uniform wearing the MOH would have been a better choice for the front of the card.

Really good looking cards there. Some of those Olympian autos should be spectacular. Can’t wait to see a checklist.

Looking forward to the astronaut cards. Of course, I AM a science teacher. Anyway, do you know how many will be in the set??

That’s awesome. What level do you teach? I’ll check on the astronaut inclusions from the checklist.

I teach 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. Back to school tomorrow! I’m kinda living today like tomorrow is a space shuttle launch-with the mental countdown clock haha!

I gotta say, this product has turned out way better then I was expecting. The designs alone have a nice fresh feel to them in my opinion.

Although I’m not a huge fan of olympics athletes, there’s enough history content in the product to have me busting boxes of this on release date!

I Can’t wait to see more preview pictures Tracy!

Glad to hear that, Geoff. We’ll have more on the unique Dwight D. Eisenhower and Tuskegee Airmen cards in the coming days.
