2013 Rookies & Stars Football Main

So much about collecting has changed since the venerable Rookies & Stars Football brand first hit the scene back in 1998. Thriving for 15 years in any industry is a remarkable accomplishment by itself, but doing so in the hyper-competitive, hyper-creative sports card hobby is worthy of a lifetime achievement award. But when Panini America releases 2013 Rookies & Stars Football in late August, here’s betting collectors will find it award-winning for myriad other reasons.

For starters, there’s the return to glory of the landmark Crusade insert, which will bring back the authentic hypotnic designs and printing technology that made those original 1998 gems instant classics. There’s also the return of the unique Rookie Premiere Slideshow Signatures insert . . . and Team Chemistry dual-signed cards . . . and Rookie Materials Signatures . . . and Game Plan and Touchdown Club . . . and so much more.

Each hobby box (eight cards per pack, 24 packs per box) of 2013 Rookies & Stars Football will deliver four autograph or memorabilia cards (at least two autographs guaranteed), 24 Rookie Cards, six parallels, two Statistical Standouts, two Touchdown Club, two Game Plan, two Crusade and two additional inserts or parallels.

Among the product’s additional highlights . . .

  • Crusade and Rookie Crusade will be featured on several different colored parallels with variations numbered to 99, 49, five and one.
  • Rookie Materials Signatures highlight the best 2013 rookies with collectible Longevity and Team Logo foil -background versions.
  • All Rookie Premiere Slideshow Signatures will be numbered to 125 or less.
  • All Team Chemistry cards will be numbered to 99 or less.
  • The NFL Combine’s top performers show off their best skill set in the Cross Training Materials standard and prime material insert.

We’ll have tons more to showcase on 2013 Rookies & Stars Football in the coming weeks right here on The Knight’s Lance. But for now, take some time to enjoy this revealing sneak peek:

I like seeing the Crusade insert. Good work bringing that in here and cheers on the Cross Training and Game Plan inserts too.

Lots of information there to work with on the design and I think the team did a good job. With stats, RC emblem, other design elements and then throw in a die-cut window for material or clearing an area for autos… wow.

Crusade? I’m in, even if just for that insert alone. Loved the 90s Crusades!
