Panini America Partners with Pepsi Next for 2013 NFL Rookie of the Week Promotion

Want to know who gets more excited than Panini America and NFL collectors about NFL Rookie performances each week during the season? Pepsi NEXT with its NFL Rookie of the Week initiative. So it comes as no surprise that once again this season — for the third straight year — Panini America and Pepsi would join forces to help promote Pepsi NEXT Rookie of the Week voting and Panini America NFL Rookie trading cards.

The payoff for collectors and NFL fans everywhere will be some sweet virtual cards that will be highlighted on the NFL Facebook page each week in a special Pepsi NEXT Rookie of the Week gallery, as well as across social media platforms and Each week during the 2013 NFL season, Panini America will feature the five Pepsi NEXT Rookie of the Week Nominees in a different Panini America football card design. (Stay tuned to The Knights Lance, the Panini America Facebook page and the Panini America Twitter account to find out about new Panini America designs and what weeks they will be incorporated into the Pepsi Rookie of the Week promotion.

Now for the fun stuff!

Vote for the NFL Pepsi NEXT Rookie of the Week each week during the 2013 NFL regular season. Then share the image of the Pepsi NEXT Rookie of the Week Nominee you voted for on your Facebook page, on the Panini America Facebook page and on Twitter. Be sure to use the #PepsiROW hashtag and mention @PaniniAmerica to be eligible to win prizes throughout the season.

We’ll have more details as the season progresses. But for now, here are your Week 1 nominees for Pepsi NEXT Rookie of the Week:

  • New York Jets QB Geno Smith threw for 256 yards and a touchdown in the Jets’ 18-17 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Smith led the team on a 50-yard drive to set up the game-winning field goal with two seconds remaining.
  • San Francisco 49ers S Eric Reid recorded six tackles and an interception in the 49ers’ 34-28 win over the Green Bay Packers.
  • Buffalo Bills QB E.J. Manuel passed for 150 yards and added two touchdowns in his season debut against the New England Patriots.
  • New Orleans Saints WR Kenny Stills caught two passes for 86 yards as the Saints defeated the Atlanta Falcons, 23-17.
  • Miami Dolphins K Caleb Sturgis was 3-for-3 on field goals, including one for a long of 49 yards. Sturgis also went 2-for-2 on PAT attempts during the Dolphins’ 23-10 defeat of the Cleveland Browns.

    Has to be EJ Manuel. That guy looked great against NE and the Bills should have won.

    I own a complete set 2012 Panini Pepsi Max ROW. Am I correct in that from what I have read above, that 2013 PPM ROW will only be a virtual card? If and when Panini decides to debut these cards to collectors, when can collectors like myself expect to start our chase after these cards? Thank you in advance!

      You can certainly expect to have physical cards to chase of the weekly winners later this season. Stay tuned.

    I wuold put Tyrann Mathieu up there as well. His hustle to save 6 was pretty impressive.

    Let’s just get this straight. Geno Smith DID NOT lead his team to victory. A light shove by Lavonte David which resulted in a very bad call and 15 yards which allowed NY to kick a long FG. If that penalty is not called then, most likely Geno heaves a hail mary and gets picked off.

    Jets won but please don’t attribute that to Geno’s “late drive”.
