2013 Limited Football Main

When Panini America’s 2013 Limited Football arrives in hobby shops in mid November, collectors will immediately notice many new-season upgrades to one of their favorite NFL trading card products. For starters, Limited’s calling-card Phenoms autograph memorabilia Rookie Cards have become more . . . phenomenal. The two-per-case Field Vision chase? It’s instantly in the running for Rookie Insert Set of the Year.

The base-card design has been enhanced, the Limited Cuts cut-autograph checklist is as limited and as legendary as it’s ever been and the sublime Game Day Materials insert returns game-dating to the the game-worn memorabilia-card genre.

Clearly, this is a new Limited for a new season, and each seven-card pack will deliver three autograph or memorabilia cards (at least one autograph guaranteed). Among the product’s myriad highlights . . .

  • The aforementioned new design — in order to better showcase the jumbo memorabilia and autographs — for the Material Phenoms RCs.
  • Jumbo Jersey Numbers Prime Signatures present legends and veterans with iconic jersey
  • number die-cuts and autographs.
  • Limited Threads game-worn memorabilia cards including 1-of-1 Brand Logos.
  • Limited’s popular Rookie Lettermen player-signed nameplate patch cards return.
  • Cut signatures from 20 different professional football icons — including Red GrangePete Rozelle and Sammy Baugh — comprise the Limited Cuts checklist.
  • The dual-player Matching Numbers insert pairs two of the game’s notable names — and their game-worn memorabilia — who wear (or wore) the same jersey number.

We’ll have much more on 2013 Limited Football right here on The Knight’s Lance in the coming weeks. But until then, enjoy this extended first look:

Those letter men cards are awesome! The phenoms auto patch rookies are worse though. Collectors like the jersey window die cut phenom with jersey in the middle…hopefully it will be back in 2014-

I’m so very excited about this product. Always on of my favorites, and it looks like this year will not disappoint. I’m especially stoked about the matching numbers and game dated jersey cards; they look fantastic!

I’ve been a HUGE fan of Limited Football the past two years. In fact, the only thing I would have changed were card stock of the base cards to something thicker like with the basketball counterpart. I’m sad to say that I think this year’s Limited Football seems to be a step back. Not only has Panini apparently decided to take a step back and go back to sticker autos for the Phenoms patch autos, but one of the features that also made the cards so distinctive, the die-cut windows have been done away with as well! I know you don’t want every year to look the same, but I honestly think collectors would be fine with the team name die-cut windows every year as you did for 2010 and 2011. In essence, 2011 has thus been the best year of the product in my eyes when it comes to the Phenom cards.

Huge downgrade this year. This has traditonally been one of my faves but I’m going to pass this year based on the mockups. I do like the letterman design but HATE the Phenoms change. The best part about the product is the team cutouts with the patches showing through and you made it boring by removing that.

Wow, talk about tempting the Football palate! I’m a fan of the jersey cards bearing the player’s stats’ from the game; such can only serve to enhance value.

i loved collecting the phenom cut out with the patches behind it! very disappointed in this years design! to me it makes the card look boring with just the patch showing with nothing over it!
the game day design looks really cool! gives the card a magazine type look with the jersey included. I also love the game dating included on the card! makes the card very special to know when the jersey was worn! great idea there Panini!

I like the look of the Lettermen auto card (and not just because it is an Eagle).

I like what I see. The Phenoms look incredible. The base card design is improved as well.

I always thought the letter cutouts detracted from the look of the prime memorabilia in the phenoms, especially when they no longer featured the team names. Great revision on that one in my book, definitely a release to watch for on the calendar. Thanks Tracy!
