Fit for a King: 2013 Crown Royale Football Rules in Panini America Pre-Ink Preview

December 8, 2013

Panini America 2013 Crown Royale Football Pre-Ink Peek (38)

December promises to be a pivotal month for Panini America’s 2013 NFL season, what with 2013 Select Football and 2013 Contenders Football set to arrive on December 18 and December 26, respectively. But even as company officials steadfastly prepare for the products that are hitting this month, they’re also focused on preparing for the products that follow in January and February (such as 2013 Black Football and 2013 Crown Royale Football).

We showcased a pre-autograph gallery of 2013 Black Football late last month right here on The Knight’s Lance. It’s worth noting that in the weeks since that preview, many players have already returned their autographed cards back to Panini America HQ. Today, as the NFL prepares to kickoff Week 14, we shift our pre-ink gaze upon 2013 Crown Royale Football.

Annually one of the collecting word’s favorite releases, Crown Royale Football returns as stacked as ever in 2013, rich with the sultry Silhouettes and die-cut Crowns and Panini’s Choice Awards that have become the product’s calling cards. We received our first glimpses at live cards earlier this week when they were delivered hot off the presses from the company’s production facility. Most of what you’re about to see has already been packaged and shipped to the respective players on the cards for autographs.

But before they were, we grabbed as many preview pics as possible for the following gallery. Enjoy the gallery (which might just include an unexpected surprise if you look close enough)  and stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for continued coverage of 2013 Crown Royale Football.

Wow, I would love to pull that Manning silhouette card. It would look great with the John Elway silhouette that I pulled last year. Amazing set!

I have to say, I collect the die cut autos every year and this years look great! I especially like the gold trim. Pretty excited to see just a couple of the veterans included this year as well, gonna have to save up to pick up that Manning auto!

are the hat cards game worn or manufactured?

The Rookies are event-worn from the NFLPA Rookie Premiere; the vets are game-worn.

The Crown Royale product has muscled it’s way into a very difficult market where collectors stand-by their tried & true products. CR, however, is really unique and I love the Silhouette prime patches.
My only complaint, however, is that I’m still waiting for some of last year’s redemptions …including a Bobby Mitchell auto Prime /15 (I think it’s 15). The product brags a unique look and feel, and the Andrew Luck auto 3/C patch rc I pulled is ridiculous.
Looking forward to this years’ iteration!

Great to see so much veteran content lined up for this release, for us fans of teams who didn’t have particularly deep draft classes that really stands out. The design on the Hats Off is phenomenal! Thanks Tracy!

Really liked last years CR and it appears this years release is just as nice. Opened all my supplier could get me until it dried up. Granted the ’13 rookie crop isn’t as desirable as ’12 but would love to hit that Manning auto patch.
