With Panini America’s 2014 Limited Football releasing today, collectors across North America are discovering many new twists to the venerable brand that make the new version stand out. But it’s the return of the game-dated Game Day Materials insert that will likely still resonate the most with fans of game-worn memorabilia cards.

Each of the 40 cards in the set features the specific date during which the memorabilia used on the card was worn; the editorial copy on the back of each card features specifics on what the respective player did in that particular game. It’s an added touch of authenticity that makes Game Day Materials a fan favorite every year.

In the gallery that follows, we profile just some of the cards in the Game Day Materials and Game Day Materials Prime sets; enjoy the extended glance and stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for continued coverage of 2014 Limited Football.

  1. So, any Packers in this subset? I know they don’t have the sick patches or anything, but it would still be cool to have them represented in this sort of product.

  2. Excellent! This is a game changer for jersey / patch cards. Takes you back in time to when the swatches were all game used, not player worn or photo shoot worn. Big IMPROVEMENT! Way to go Panini!

  3. I like the fact they’re specific game used but is this why you guys raised the price this year because you didn’t add anything in way of extra hits or even base ? While I noticed the thicker card stock on the base and the gold foil lettering, I don’t see the reason for a $13. increase over what I paid in years past. Between 2011 Limited and 2012 Limited I ripped 3 and 5 cases of this product respectively. Last year I didn’t like it so I only ripped one and was done as the rookie class and content just wasn’t there. This year I’m not going to rip any cases. What is happening to Panini ??? Just being honest. You ruined two of my favorite products this year : Certified and Limited. Lets right the ship boys. You guys were always the cream of the crop with football releases.
