2016-17 Totally Certified Basketball Delivers in Must-See Episode of Panini Unwrapped

Yesterday afternoon in the Panini America HQ lobby, just in front of the festively festooned fireplace and company Christmas tree, Tracy Hackler and Keith Hower sat down with two boxes of the new-this-week 2016-17 Totally Certified Basketball and a willingness to rip. The resulting video below chronicles the experience.

  1. I love the rookie roll call cards the card I like the most were the inserts an the different levels ….Thing I would change is add more player auto not necessarily the big names …..

  2. 1: My fave card was the Camo insert. Have always loved the camos of every product, but something about this one really pops!
2: My fave thing about is the price point. Get some nice looking cards and autos, especially since now on-card, w/o breaking the wallet.
3: The thing I would change is go back to not so many color variations. Liked it better when there was only 3-5, not the 8-12 there are now.

  3. 1.justin Winslow Was my favorite Card
2.mirror images colored parallels are amazing this year and the on card autographs
3.Not Much To change I think this years designed is amazing and parallels are uniqe

  4. The Brandon Ingram rookie roll call is probably my favorite of this break. What I like most about this Totally Certified is the Signed, Sealed, Delivered insert! Personally I’d like to see some of the card designs change for Totally Certified since while I love the product, it doesn’t necessarily change much between iterations like some other series do.

  5. 1. My favourite card from the break was the Nate Archibald Energisers insert. I just love the design of the card with the Kansas City Kings jersey!
    2. I love the new, unique inserts that’ve been introduced to this fabulous product! Energisers, Return to Sender, Franchise Faces cards, etc. are awesome!
    3. The only thing I would really change is maybe to add a few more packs to T-Cert so that there is 12 or 16 packs a box, to make for a more fun break.
Other than that, Totally Certified this year is amazing!

  6. I like the Energizers set the best and the Return to Senders is a close second. The old air mail envelope design is cool as is the look of that Totally Certified camo Ebay 1/1.
My favorite feature here is the variety of inserts. It’s been years since I’ve built a master set, but with a nice selection of good looking insert sets it makes it easier to trade or sell your way to finishing the sets you do like the most.
Obviously the rookie autos is a big draw in so many products and along that line my biggest issue is how large that subset logo is on the card. I understand wanting that element to be bold and easily identifiable, but to me it just takes up too much real estate on these. Shrink that down and give these guys a bit more dedicated room to sling that ink on card when they are given that opportunity.
Thanks for listening and Merry Christmas!

  7. 1) What card from this break was your favorite – As a Purdue fan, I have to go with the A.J. Hammons, Fabric of the Game Jersey card.
    2) What you like most about 2016-17 Totally Certified Basketball – The Parallels.
    3) What you would like to see changed about Totally Certified Basketball – I really liked the Die-Cuts that the 2014-15 product line had.
    Thanks for the Contest!

  8. 1. My favourite card from this break is the LeBron James Return To Sender card! Cool design!
    2. I definitely love the on card autos!
    3. I would maybe change to more packs per box if possible.
    Thanks for the contest!

  9. My favorite card is Brandon Ingram rookie autograph.
What I like most is the big possibility of getting the bonus second autograph in boxes.
What could be made better for this product:
    Action shots of rookies instead of just headshots;
    More veterans autographs.

  10. My favourite card from this break is the Brandon Ingram autograph. Maybe I am a bit biased here since I am a Laker fan.
What I like most about 16/17 Totally Certified are not one but two things. I just love the patch cards and also the cards pop. Love how these cards were designed.
What I would change are the return to sender cards. They don’t seem like they belong with the other cards. Would rather have more parallels than the return to sender cards.

  11. WOW cool looking cards. I hope that the NASCAR looks as good. I would have to say the Brandon Ingram auto was my favorite. The foil inserts are awesome. Like to see legend autographs. Incredible looking cards! Thanks for showing them. Have a happy Holiday season and a Happy New Year everyone!

  12. 1. Brandon Ingram Rookie roll call autograph
    2. I like that rookie autographs are on card and not on a sticker
    3. I would like to see more autographs and less memorabilia cards

  13. 1) Gotta say that Brandon Ingram rookie auto is my favorite. HUGE Laker fan here!
    2) Love the variety of the inserts of this set for sure.
    3) Judging from how things changed, I suppose it’s out of your control to change the amount of hits per box without increasing the price point, but I would definitely like it to go back to 6 hits per box if possible. I would buy a few for sure.

  14. 1. Fav card is the Ingram auto but like the look of the Energizer inserts.
    2. Like the on-card autos of the rookies
    3. I think the color schemes on the parallels is confusing. Based on previous years, a green card always meant #’d to 5, gold meant #’d to 10, etc. This years coloring throws that out the window.

  15. 1. Brandon ingram rookie auto
    2. On card autos and signed sealed delivered insert.
    3. A better box maybe something we can keep like the tin can boxes of timeless treasures 🙂

  16. The eBay 1/1 was nice, but I like the design of the Mutombo RTS 🙂
It’s great to see TC this year is just as well-designed as in previous seasons, with the chance to pull a Ewing auto as well
Being a massive Dr J nerd, I’d love to see greater representation of older legends in autos and memorabilia along with the new rookie talent

  17. 1. Lebron james return to sender insert, Lebron is a really good defender
    2. This year’s rookie roll call cards feature rookies in college uniform, which a good chance for collectors to collect future NBA stars
    3. I think the signed, sealed, shipped autos should be on card because last year’s TC has included many veteran’s on card auto

  18. Thanks for the forum to hear our feedback Tracy. here goes:
    1) What card from this break was your favorite?
Camo insert parallels are striking in any program, the Avery Bradley from the break takes it for me.
    2) What you like most about 2016-17 Totally Certified Basketball?
The technology-inspired designs, always a plus for TC.
    3) What you would like to see changed about Totally Certified Basketball?
    More veteran autograph content.

  19. 1).Favorite card pulled was the Avery Bradley Camo25/25…Nice design.I love the camos.

3).And finally I would like to see more refractor style cards in totally certified…..Thanks for contest Panini..Merry Christmas.

  20. 1) What card from this break was your favorite,
    * The Rookie Roll Call of Brandon Ingram (Foil On-card with a very sharp auto)
    2) What you like most about 2016-17 Totally Certified Basketball
    * The on-card autographs (roookies) and the distinctive parallels and colors.
    3) What you would like to see changed about Totally Certified Basketball.
    * Bring back the auto jerseys and auto patches for the rookies.

  21. 1) My favorite card from the break was the on-card rookie auto of Brandon Ingram, as he has a lot of potential and I would love to have an auto of him in my collection.
    2) I love the micro-etched design of Totally Certified. Even the base cards stand out in this product.
    3) I think that the set would improve if there were more patch autographs. I believe that in the product’s 5-year history, only the 2015-16 season had patch autos.
Thanks for the giveaway, a hobby box of this would make a great holiday gift to any collector!

  22. 1) favorite card Brandon Ingram.
    2) I really like the on-card auto’s
    3) I would like to see more rookie auto patches.
thanks for the chance, good luck to all it would make a greta Christmas gift.

  23. Favorite card was the Brandon Ingram autograph. Like the use of holofoil–sp? and the camo cards version. Change in future adding die-cut versions, the energizers would look great with a cut style. Thanks and look forward to seeing some in hand.

  24. 1-I liked the Austin Rivers jersey card–fan of memorabilia, especially game worn stuff.
2-Impressed by the on card autos and array of dazzling inserts.
3-As an in person autograph collector the cards are a bit dark in color for my taste-like using staedtler blue sharpies for my autographing and I feel like it wouldn’t show very well on these. Other then that cool looking product and thanks for a chance at getting some!

  25. My favorite card was the Avery Bradley camo–state kid who’s playing awesome, and has been for some time. Always a fan of the on card autos and amount of memorabilia in this product. Like other collectors I’d love more packs per box but that would of course increase the price so change nothing.

  26. My favorite card was the Brandon Ingram auto. I’m a Lakers fan, so that one was easy.
My favorite aspect of the product was on-card rookie autos. I do have to say that some of the insert designs look great.
What I would change is to go back to 2010, and have serial numbered base cards.

  27. 1)My favorite was the Austin Rivers “Fabric Game” Card
    2)Cameo Cards
3)Would like to see more “Multi-Colored Jersey Cards”… one color cards are kinda boring, and would like to see 1 of 1 cards.

  28. 1. What card from this break was your favorite,
Like most people, I really liked the Brandon Ingram autograph card. Holofoil with a very nice autograph!
    2. What you like most about 2016-17 Totally Certified Basketball
The on-card autographs have to be what I like most about the set, but the designs this year really cool too.
    3. What you would like to see changed about Totally Certified Basketball.
It would be nice to have patch cards and more hits per box/pack.
