Panini America Offers Detailed First Look at 2016 Gala Football (Preview Gallery)

April 26, 2016

Panini America 2016 Gala Football Main

Panini America’s July-releasing 2016 Gala Football is not so much a sequel as it is an adaptation inspired by last season’s big-screen debut of 2014-15 Gala Basketball. That international-only premiere was a critical success that paved the way for the planned domestic distribution of 2015-16 Gala Basketball. It also was filled with several elements that were begging to crossover to the NFL. In late July, they will.

Wielding a unique movie motif and some of the rarest football Rookie Cards of all time, 2016 Gala Football will deliver four autograph or memorabilia cards in every five-card box. Borrowing from Gala Basketball’s loaded insert arsenal, Gala Football will introduce film-cell stunners such as Cinematic Signatures and Silver Screen Signatures to NFL collectors.

The highlights of 2016 Gala Football are many and include . . .

  • Super short-printed Rookie Cards limited to just eight copies.
  • All on-card signatures of veterans and retired players in subsets like Starring Role, Action Autographs, Vintage Performers and more.
  • On-card-signed film cards featuring current NFL veterans in Cinematic Signatures and Silver Screen Signatures; both featuring 1/1 parallels.
  • The Vintage Materials insert features game-worn memorabilia of former stars including 1/1 Super Prime parallels.
  • Coming Attractions Memorabilia includes memorabilia from 20 top rookies selected in the 2016 NFL Draft and includes four distinct parallels.
  • Find memorabilia of current veterans and legends in the Main Attractions Memorabilia set including 1/1 Super Prime parallels.
  • All autograph and memorabilia cards numbered to 99 or less.

We’ll have plenty more on 2016 Gala Football in the coming weeks right here on The Knight’s Lance. But for now, enjoy this early sneak peek (keeping in mind that the 2015 rookies featured in the preview gallery below are merely to show collectors what Gala’s various rookie designs will look like):

Why does it say “Rookie Card” on the Gurley and Winston if this is a 2016 Product?

You’re the second person who’s asked about that. I referenced this in the body of the blog post, but just so there’s no confusion, Here’s what I wrote:

      Sorry again for the confusion.

Big fan of the Starring Role Signatures design (maybe a little Colts bias?) and the photography in the Action Autographs. Good to see this program adapted to football. Thanks Tracy!
