The fabled NBA Hoops Basketball brand isn’t so much a trading card product as it is a basketball collecting institution. It’s a vital, vibrant reminder of the impending new season, brimming every fall with promise, pageantry, potential and star power. For most collectors, basketball season isn’t really basketball season until NBA Hoops arrives.

I can’t wait! Hoops is the best set of the year and the only one I do a hobby box of. (I get it as a birthday present every year, luckily for me my birthday is in October!). The 2015-16 set is probably my favorite set of the Panini era, even if it is only a paltry 300 cards. I was able to complete it, which considering my monthly card budget is about $25 that’s a big accomplishment. Great to start seeing the rookies in their new uniforms, there’s a lot of good kids coming up in this class. The breakdown on the parallels sounds new and unique this year- and some new colors to boot! I’m one of the people who loves colored parallels, The parallels in 2015-16, especially green and gold, were spectacular. I can’t say enough good things about them. Hopefully this coming year will be more along those same lines.

I really hope the set is larger than 300 cards…or we get a series 2, that would be even better…shots of players who changed teams (Durant, Wade, many others this year) in action from their new teams, rookies in action, and the 150 players who don’t get a card in series 1 and usually any other sets…if we ever got a series 2 of Hoops, it would be perfect…only 4 sets in NBA history have ever gotten a perfect rating from me, but a series 2 could very well put Hoops there.

How many cards in the set? Is it still 260 Veterans and 40 Rookies? I like the look of the Rookie cards. The Rise and Shine patches are a big improvement over the floating heads of the last couple years.
