The Panini America Quality Control Gallery: 2016 Playoff Football (108 Must-See Pics)

The last time Panini America’s base Playoff Football brand was released, the Dallas Cowboys won the Super Bowl, the Nebraska Cornhuskers won the National Championship, the World Series didn’t happen, “Forrest Gump” was No. 1 at the box office, Tonya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan became household names and a Clinton was in the White House.

The year was 1994 and back then, Playoff Football dazzled collectors with little more than high-end card stock, cool photography and a star-laden checklist. Clearly, a lot has changed in the last 22 years — and many of those changes will be reflected in the triumphant return of the Playoff Football brand when it arrives in hobby shops across North America on Wednesday.

As you’ll see in the revealing Quality Control Gallery that follows, 2016 Playoff Football offers an expansive celebration of some of the most beloved aspects of Playoff’s proud history, including classic inserts such as Star Gazing, Boss Hoggs, Air Command and more. On average, each hobby box (eight cards per pack, 12 packs per box, 20 boxes per case) will deliver one autograph numbered to 199 or less, one memorabilia card, 12 Rookie Cards and 24 inserts or parallels.

Collectors will also find the dual-sided Thunder & Lightning insert set as well as Contenders Preview Autographs falling roughly once per case.

Enjoy the imagery below and stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for continued coverage.

Looks great!! Hoping to see the first Terrance West Ravens card. Maybe a Eric Weddle in a Ravens uni as well 🙂

I’m glad these don’t look like the ’94 Playoff set. ’94 does have two rookies that went on the be Hall of Famers, Marshall Faulk & Larry Allen.

Really like what I see so far from Playoff, the Thunder/Lightning inserts were some of my favorites in the 90s. Thanks Tracy!

I have a question about the Boss Hogs Inserts. All the players cards are Listed as No. BH- (Their first and last name initials). Why is Lamar Millers Listed as LA?
