Obsidian basketball cards return for another year, offering a variety of distinct designs, parallels, and die cuts inside 2024-25 Panini Obsidian NBA hobby boxes.

Obsidian’s sleek flood parallels, numbered from 125 to 1, return with the addition of a few new rarities, such as Electric Etch Pink Flood (numbered to 49), Electric Etch Blue Flood (30) and Electric Etch Hot Springs (15).

First up, Stephen Curry, who goes by “Chef”or simply “30.” Curry’s meteoric rise was accompanied by the “Chef Curry” nickname given to him by Drake. As the guard reached icon status, his jersey number emerged his top identifier thanks to teammates and peers around the league, along with numerous song lyrics. When you hear No. 30 come up in hoop discussions, there’s only one name that comes to mind.

Ja Morant: “12.” Like Curry, Morant earned the honor of going by his jersey number. What started with the “Call 12” slogan that became popular after the high-flying guard started stringing together clutch-time performances developed into “Twelve” being his household name, evident by his Instagram account. 

Matas Buzelis: “Lil Buzi Vert” The 11th pick of the 2024 draft received his nickname from Chicago Sports Network announcer Stacey King early into his rookie campaign. The fun play on rapper Lil Uzi Vert’s name matches the exciting level of play that Buzelis brings to the court with his stage-dive dunks and emphatic shot-blocking.
