A Panini HRX Video Exclusive: Unwrapping 2013-14 Select Hockey (with a Contest)

Today, we're going to make up for being so tardy with this particular break by offering five lucky collectors the opportunity to win an unopened box of 2013-14 Select Hockey just for viewing this episode on our Panini HRX channel and answering a few questions on what you see.

TKL HRX Card

Let me just get this out of the way from the top: We’re way late with this special edition of Panini Unwrapped starring the still-blazing 2013-14 Select Hockey — and for that, I apologize. In addition to including the first autographed and autographed memorabilia RCs of the this year’s newest rookie phenoms, 2013-14 Select Hockey also was the focus of a cool “Making Of” video put together recently by the NHL Network.

Today, we’re going to make up for being so tardy with this particular break by offering five lucky collectors the opportunity to win an unopened box of 2013-14 Select Hockey just for viewing this episode on our Panini HRX channel and answering a few questions on what you see.

The video is available for viewing now exclusively on the Panini HRX channel. To watch it, simply scan the QRL code on The Knight’s Lance HRX card above or the one you pulled from packs of 2013 Prizm Football. That’s no ordinary QRL code, though. It requires a special app that is absolutely free and takes less than a minute to download.

After you have the app, simply scan the QRL code and the video will begin. To be eligible to win one box of 2013-14 Select Hockey, simply answer — AS A COMMENT TO THIS POST — two simple question:

What player appeared on the first Rookie Autograph Memorabilia card that Tracy Hackler pulled?

What player appeared on the Fire on Ice insert that Chris Barr pulled and had Hackler pronounce?

We’ll wait to approve all comments until after the entry deadline — which is this Sunday night (November 24) at 11:59 p.m. — so your comment will appear to you as “pending moderation.” That’s our way of protecting your answers to the HRX Video contest so that everyone else can’t see them. To be eligible to win, please keep your answer to yourself until after the deadline. We want to reward those folks who’ve taken the time and effort to watch the video.

We’ll place all eligible entries into an online randomizer and award five winners with unopened boxes of 2013-14 Select Hockey. Enjoy the video and thanks for participating.

  1. Had to borrow my sons phone since it’s not available for my Blackberry yet LOL
Very cool video though and app.

What player appeared on the first Rookie Autograph Memorabilia card that Tracy Hackler pulled? Ryan Murray

What player appeared on the Fire on Ice insert that Chris Barr pulled and had Hackler pronounce? Drew Shore was Chris Barr’s fire and ice and he had Tracy pronounce the next card which was Ondřej Pavelec

  2. Hope I got this right:
What player appeared on the first Rookie Autograph Memorabilia card that Tracy Hackler pulled?
    Ryan Murray

What player appeared on the Fire on Ice insert that Chris Barr pulled and had Hackler pronounce?
Drew Shore – Fire on Ice
    Ondrej Pavelec – Tracy pronounced

The set looks amazing. As a matter of fact, of the hockey product this year, this one seems to have a lot of collectors trying to actually build the set. I have 4 friends all trying to. They love it!

  3. What player appeared on the first Rookie Autograph Memorabilia card that Tracy Hackler pulled?
    Ryan Murray
What player appeared on the Fire on Ice insert that Chris Barr pulled and had Hackler pronounce?
Drew Shore Fire on Ice and Hackler pronounced Ondrej Pavelec

Gotta love hockey names. Thanks for another great contest!

  4. The first Auto rookie, which was also a memorabilia card Ryan Murry
The Fire on Ice card was Drew Shore of the Winnipeg Jets
the pronounced name i think i heard Justin DiBenedetto

  5. The first rookie autograph memorabilia card was Ryan Murray
The Fire On Ice card was Drew Shore (but I think he had him pronounce the card after that – Ondrej Pavelec).

    Thanks

  6. Tracy,
The Rookie Auto Memorabilia Card pulled by Tracy was Ryan Murray out of /99. The Fire on Ice that Chris Barr pulled was a Drew Shore, however I think Chris had Tracy pronounce the Ondrej Pavelec card after the Fire on ice Drew Shore.
Thanks and great work guys on the product.
    Travis

  7. 1. Tracy pulled Ryan Murray
    2. Fire on Ice pulled by Chris Barr is not the card he had you pronounce but the card he did have you pronounce was Ondrej Pavelec

    Thanks as always Panini!

  8. 1. Ryan Murray Rookie Jersey Prizm Auto
    2. The fire on ice was Drew Shore but had you pronouce the card after which was Ondrej Pavelec

  9. Tracy Hackler pulled Ryan Murray Rookie Auto Memorabilia
Chris Barr pulled a Drew Shore Fire and Ice and had Tracy pronounce Ondrej Pavelec

  10. What player appeared on the first Rookie Autograph Memorabilia card that Tracy Hackler pulled? Ryan Murray

What player appeared on the Fire on Ice insert that Chris Barr pulled and had Hackler pronounce? Drew Shore

    Thanks a ton Panini!

  11. What player appeared on the first Rookie Autograph Memorabilia card that Tracy Hackler pulled? : Ryan Murray

What player appeared on the Fire on Ice insert that Chris Barr pulled and had Hackler pronounce? : Ondrej Pavelec

  12. Ryan Murray is the rookie auto mem. and Drew Shore was the Fire on Ice but it seemed like Tracy pronounced Ondrej Pavelec from the following card. Maybe I am wrong but beautiful cards!

  13. Haha, great video guys, especially liked the intro, lol!

The rookie auto/mem pulled was of the Blue Jackets defenseman Ryan Murray. The Fire on Ice insert (great looking set btw, one of the best inserts for a long time in my opinion) i think was of Drew Shore. Both the Lecavalier and Murphy especially were sick looking as well!

    So to summary this:
    RC Auto/Mem: Ryan Murray
    Fire on Ice: Drew Shore

  14. Thanks for the contest and I would love to rip another box!

First answer was Ryan Murray /99 auto

Answer 2 was a little misleading so I will answer in two parts To both questions. Barr pulled a drew shore fire and Ice and he made hackler say ondrej pavelec

Thanks again and I hope my answer covers everything just incase.

  15. The first Rookie/Auto/Mem Tracy pulled was Ryan Murray. (HUGE fan of Murray, making me jealous!)

For the second part, is it a trick question? Because at the end, he pronounced Drew Shore’s name but had Tracy pronounce Ondrej Pavelec, which isn’t a Fire on Ice card.

    Thanks!

  16. Question 1.) Ryan Murray

Question 2.) the Fire on Ice Chris Barr pulled was of Drew Shore, however, Tracy Hackler pronounced the card behind that in which the player was Ondrej Pavelec.

  17. Tracy Hackler pulled Ryan Murray rookie auto jersey card
Chris Barr pulled Drew Shore Fire on Ice but had Tracy pronounce Ondrej Pavelec’s name

  18. This is not my official entry I have a question because I could not find and I watched the video like three times a fire and ice that Chris Barr gave to Tracy for him to pronounce. Now the last card which he gave to him was a base prizm parallel. So in hindsight is this a trick question or did you guys miss write the second contest question?

  19. Thanks as always for the contest Tracy, here are my answers:

The player that appeared on the first Rookie Autograph Memorabilia card that Tracy Hackler pulled was Ryan Murray.

The player that appeared on the Fire on Ice insert that Chris Barr pulled and was holding was Drew Shore while he had Hackler pronounce Ondřej Pavelec.

  20. What player appeared on the first Rookie Autograph Memorabilia card that Tracy Hackler pulled? Ryan Murray
What player appeared on the Fire on Ice insert that Chris Barr pulled and had Hackler pronounce? Fire on Ice card was Drew Shore but Tracy pronounced Andre Pavelec which wasn’t a Fire on Ice card!
    Thanks Panini!

  21. What player appeared on the first Rookie Autograph Memorabilia card that Tracy Hackler pulled?
    Ryan Murray

What player appeared on the Fire on Ice insert that Chris Barr pulled and had Hackler pronounce?
He pulled Drew Shore, but had him pronounce Onrej Pavelec

  22. The first Rookie Autograph Memorabilia card that Tracy Hackler pulled….was Ryan Murray

Tracy Hakler did not pronounce the name of the Fire on Ice insert that Chris Barr pulled.

  23. Ryan Murray and Drew Shore (although that’s not the name he had Tracy pronounce… That was the following card, Ondrej Pavelec… That was not a Fire on Ice insert.)

  24. rookie auto relic is ryan murray… And not sure about second question but Chris pulled a Drew Shore fire on ice card… You might confuse it with the next Pavelec card from the jets.

  25. 1- the rookie memorabilia auto is Ryan Murray
2- none! chris showed a Drew Shore insert but then showed an Ondrej Pavelec card and Tracy… That’s the card he tried to pronounce.

  26. question number 1 ..what player appeared on the first Rookie Auto memo card that Tracy pulled it was Ryan Murray and it is his first rookie card only in select sets 🙂
question number 2…what player appeared on the fire and ice insert that Chris Barr pulled and had hackler pronounce well this is kind of a trick question the fire n ice insert that was pulled was Drew Shore but he had Tracy pronounce ondrej Pavolik (juggernaut)

  27. Ryan Murray Columbus Blue Jackets
Mr Barr pulled a Drew Shore Fiire on Ice card, but made Mr Hackler pronounce the Ondrej Pavelec Jets prizm card.

  28. #1. Tracy Hackler pulled – Ryan Murray Rookie Autograph Memorabilia card /99

#2. On the “Fire on Ice” insert which pulled Chris Barr is Drew Shore but Tracy Hackler pronounce NEXT card with goalie Ondrej Pavelec name

Thanks for great contest PANINI! I’ll keep my fingers crossed;)

  29. Ryan Murray was the rookie autographed memorabilia card that Hackler first pulled.
Chris Barr pulled a Drew Shore Fire on Ice card but Hackler pronounced Andre Pavelecs name which I do not believe was on a Fire on Ice card.

  30. Ryan Murray was first auto & Drew Shore was the Fire On Ice. Cool Video! Wish I could of made it to the show, VIP party sounds awesome!

  31. The first rookie that Tracy pulled was an auto memorabilia card of Ryan Murray.

Chris had Tracy try and pronounce a card that featured Ondrej Pavelec, but I am pretty sure that it wasn’t a Fire on Ice card. The Fire on Ice card in the pack was a Drew Shore one in case that was the answer you were looking for, but Tracy didn’t have to pronounce that 🙂

  32. The 1st RC auto memorabilia card Tracy pulled was a Ryan Murray, and the fire on ice card Chris pulled was a Drew shore Florida Panther rookie.
Thanks for the contest and good luck to all, my boys hope to pull a Washington Capital Connor Carrick RC Auto when they buy a box.

  33. Question: What player appeared on the first Rookie Autograph Memorabilia card that Tracy Hackler pulled?
    Answer: Ryan Murray

Question: What player appeared on the Fire on Ice insert that Chris Barr pulled and had Hackler pronounce?
    Answer: Ondrej Pavelec

  34. What player appeared on the first Rookie Autograph Memorabilia card that Tracy Hackler pulled?
    – Ryan Murray Prizm Rookie Auto-Mem /99

What player appeared on the Fire on Ice insert that Chris Barr pulled and had Hackler pronounce?
    – Ondrej Pavelec Fire On Ice

  35. Here is my entry. I watched the video mutliple times. I hate that I couldn’t just rewind it a bit to see what I was missing, but here are my answers. I am not sure if I’m right. I am really curious to see what everyone else said. I hope I’m not completely wrong. :/

1.What player appeared on the first Rookie Autograph Memorabilia card that Tracy Hackler pulled?

    Ryan Murray

2.What player appeared on the Fire on Ice insert that Chris Barr pulled and had Hackler pronounce?

He pulled a Drew Shore “Fire on Ice” but had Hackler pronounce Ondrej Pavalic (the card after it)

  36. 1st Rookie Autograph Memorabilia Card pulled by Tracey
    Ryan Murray

The Fire on Ice card insert from Chris Barr was Drew Shore but he didn’t have Tracey pronounce the name on that card. He had Tracey pronounce the name of the next card which was Ondrej Pavelec.

Hopefully those are the right answers.
Also that app really needs a rewind option. Had to watch it 10 times to get all the answers.

    Thanks for the contest

  37. 1) Ryan Murray Jersey/Auto Card by Tracy Hackler.
    2) Ondrej pavelic was the card after the Fire on Ice card that Tracy was asked to pronounce by Chris Barr so not sure the question is asked correctly since he was not asked about the fire on ice card as stated in the question???????
Thanks for another great give away

  38. Ok…1st…the player appearing on the rookie auto/mem. card Tracy pulled was Ryan Murray. And Secondly, this part had me confused with the wording of the contest… It says “what player appeared on the Fire on Ice insert that Chris Barr pulled and had Hackler pronounce?”: Chris Barr pulled the Drew Shore Fire on Ice, but the card he had Tracy pronounce was Andre Pavelec, but it wasn’t a Fire on Ice Insert… So not really sure which one ur looking for…gonna put both to be on the safe side lol;-)

  39. Tracy pulled a Ryan Murray rookie autographed jersey card /99
Chris pulled a Ryan Murphy somewhat unobvious. fire on ice insert

Thanks for a great free contest and my favorite sport and product select hockey.

Hope I win, Love, Jordan Freeman, Toronto, Ontario.

  40. 1) Rookie pulled by Tracy: Ryan Murray

    2) Fire on Ice Insert that Chris Pulled was Drew Shore, but the player card he had Tracy pronounce was Ondrej Pavelac .Not sure which one you were referring to though so hopefully the dual answer wont be disqualified.

  41. Hackler’s first Rookie Autograph Memorabilia card was Ryan Murray.
There’s a problem with the second question – the card Barr pulled and had Hackler pronounce was Ondrej Pavelec, but it wasn’t a Fire On Ice card. His Fire On Ice card was Drew Shore.

  42. Tracy Hackler’s first rookie auto mem card was a prism version Ryan Murray on the Columbus blue jackets rookie autograph jersey card /99. First one on the market.

The second question was a bit unapparent. It says which fire on ice insert did Chris pull and have Tracy pronounce but he did not have Tracy pronounce any of his fire on ice.

Chris did however tell Tracy he could have the Ondrej Pavelec card and handed it to him, meaning he could pronounce it. Chris told Tracy he could “Have that one.” to which Tracy said “Jet Juggernaut Ondrej Pavelec” and then asked “Is that close?” To which Chris responded “Yep, your good, you’re set.”

There were a couple other pronouncing situations, none to do with fire on ice though. They were:

-When Chris Barr pulled the Justin DiBenedetto Autographed card he said his name and told Tracy “See, I saved you from having to pronounce his name there.

-When Tracy mispronounced Ben Hanowski’s (Calgary Flames), name very badly and said “Sorry Ben for totally butchering your name there.”

The 2 fire on ice insert cards that Chris Barr pulled were:

    -Vincent Lecavalier fire on ice
    -Drew Shore fire on ice.

Thanks for a great free contest and my favorite sport and product select hockey.

Hope I win, Love, Jordan Freeman, Toronto, Ontario.

  43. Tracy Hackler’s first rookie auto mem card was a prism version Ryan Murray on the Columbus blue jackets rookie autograph jersey card /99. First one on the market.

  44. OK, before we get started on winners here, I first want to thank everyone for participating. So from me to you, a hearty “thank you.” Secondly, it would appear from everyone’s comments that I did indeed throw out an unintentionally confusing second question. For that, I apologize. Luckily, our readers and fans are nothing if not astute, so most of you picked up on it really quickly — and if you watched the video, you nailed it any way. So, my mistake on this one means an additional five boxes will be awarded. That’s 10 boxes total! So, if you got Ryan Murray as the answer to question 1 and any combination of Drew Shore or Ondrej Pavelec on question number 2, you were entered into the drawing. Having said all of that, congratulations to our 10 winners: Seth W., Brandon Paxton, Rookiegraphs, Luke Osowski, Penny B., Melissa P., Dave H., Johnathan Williams, Tom Brien and rninete. Thanks again for participating and my apologies for the somewhat tricky question. Winners, we’ll be in touch. As always, our next contest is right around the corner.

    1. I knew there was something weird about the question. I was going nuts having to watch the whole video over and over again. That was really nice, though, for you to award additional boxes. Even though I didn’t win, I appreciate it. Happy Thanksgiving!

    2. Thanks Tracy! Great product, can’t wait to get my hands on this stuff! Happy Thanksgiving to you and the crew there at Panini America! Congrats to all of the winners!

    3. To those people that stuck it out and attempted to answer the second part of the question, good for you! I couldn’t figure out what the answer was so I decided to not enter at all this time around, but that just goes to show that putting in the extra effort pays off! So congrats to the TEN WINNERS! You all really deserve it! Thanks again for the contest, and I’m happy to announce I entered in the next one which was for the Certified basketball cards! Keep the contests coming Tracy! You do great work!
