A Special Panini America Weekend Preview: The First Live Look at 2012 Prizm Football

"A familiar, but dramatically improved, technology." That's how the Panini America sales material boldly introduced the framework for both 2012-13 Prizm Basketball and the upcoming 2012 Prizm Football. After all, chromium-inspired, light-reflective trading cards have been around for many years. They've just never been done quite like this. That’s how the Panini America sales material boldly introduced the framework for both 2012-13 Prizm Basketball and the upcoming 2012 Prizm Football. After all, chromium-inspired, light-reflective trading cards have been around for many years. They’ve just never been done quite like this. The company first delivered its stunning take on the technology last month in 2012-13 Prizm Basketball. The shock waves are still reverberating throughout the collecting universe today.

True to its mantra, that first taste of Prizm — with its brilliant parallels, deep, dimensional etching, complimentary design principles and an utter refusal to warp — indeed offered a “familiar, but dramatically improved, technology” that resonated with collectors who’d waited long enough for the genre’s what’s-next jolt. Prizm Basketball got the ball rolling. When Prizm Football releases in early February, the revolution will continue.
To be sure, the printing technology incorporated in Panini America’s Prizm brands is not the same-old, same-old. It’s richer, deeper and designed to impress. One waltz through the gallery that follows and you’ll see exactly what I mean.
Yesterday afternoon, I had the distinct pleasure of spending some quality time with the first uncut sheets of 2012 Prizm Football — one 100-up base autograph form, one 100-up Prizm parallel form and one 100-up Gold Prizm form. To kick off this special Knight’s Lance weekend preview of 2012 Prizm Football, we’ll explore those first two today. Tomorrow, we’ll bring you up close and personal with some of those Gold Prizms.
In the coming weeks, we’ll bring you extended looks at the product’s other captivating parallels — the resplendent Reds, the glorious Greens, the brilliant Blacks.
So buckle up and get ready for a joy ride. We can’t wait to hear your thoughts.

  1. Great timing! just looking at box breaks with this and couldn’t find any photos. This helps. Looking forward to the rest..Wish u had posted the hits first but thanks and great cards as always!

  2. Prizm Basketball is considered Product of the year! There is no doubt that Prizm will also Take over football. The only thing about prizm is that no matter what and how many previews you to doTracy. Its always would be better once we are holding this awesome gift of Panini’$ Unparalleled technology on our hands. Football Fans and collectors would definitely have a feast on Prizm.

  3. I am assuming the cards with the white boxes under the names are getting autographs? If so, thanks for getting Jordy Nelson in another product! It is nice to have new autos to pick up now.

  4. With the recent success if Prizm Basketball, I am pretty sure these will be equally, if not, just as successful. Its nice to see a product get as much attention on the retail side as it does on the hobby side. Nice job as usual Panini.

    1. as someone that opened over 7 retail box’s i can say that it is very nice to see, that the retail version is a nice box with just the right amount of insert’s,and green prizms,,,please keep up the good work on retail…thank you

  5. Prizm is looking absolutely incredible! I loved loved LOVED prizm basketball. Football will likely be just the same. I can’t wait til it comes out. Possibly my favorite product ever?!

  6. love the different vet autos, i assume it just cause the white box. but some new names in the vet department look like they will have autos in this, very nice! this is the best teaser gallerie cause, bein honest, theres not much to look at yet, but thats what makes me even more excited for this release!! the anticipation of whats to come makes it interesting! loved the basketball prizm and im sure football will be a hit as well! thanks for the pics fellas! have a great weekend!

  7. Here are some things that could have been better with the basketball set that I would also like to see in the football version of this set:
    1. Give the parallels their own name. Having an insert set named Prizm is just confusing. No one wants to call the Prizm Prizms, a lot of fellow collectors just end up calling them refractors, and I really don’t think Panini wants their product nicknamed after their biggest competitor.
    2. Prizm Parallels have no tag on the back that states: Prizm Parallel, Green Parallel, Gold Parallel.
    3. Tags on the front for the rookie cards would be nice. You could also extend the same RC tag among all Panini Brands.

  8. Very nice looking product! Love the Veteran autos in this!
Also, I absolutely loved basketball and was wondering if there is any chance you guys will release the print run for the Prizms and Green Prizms? I would love to know about how many of the USA Prizms or the base Green Prizms were made!
