A Teaser Gallery: Panini America Breaks the First Box of 2012 Momentum Football

It's already been a banner day for the Panini America Marketing team: Our boxes of 2012 Momentum Football arrived just before noon. So I grabbed the first box I could get my hands on and ripped it open, taking pics of the pulls so I could provide this tantalizing look at the first box opened.

The new product officially releases tomorrow, but we couldn’t wait to give you an early glimpse at the 10-pack results of one randomly selected box. Stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance tomorrow for what promises to be a must-see, watch-and-win episode of Panini Unwrapped starring Momentum.

But for now, just enjoy this virtual box-bust gallery.

    1. It was random in the sense that it was the first box I grabbed and opened.

And it’s worth noting that each 10-box master case includes two five-box inner cases; according to Carlos Torrez, our NFL Brand Manager, one of those five-box inner cases should include either an RG III, Andrew Luck or Trent Richardson auto; the other five-box inner case should include either a Brandon Weeden, Ryan Tannehill or Justin Blackmon auto.

  1. Nothing wrong with a box that includes 10 Hits, SWEET!!! I wish they all came with an RGIII auto, but I look what I see so far on this new addition to the line!! I also like the design of the rookie patch auto of Chris Givens with the 2012 die-cut design. On another topic I like what I have seen from the 2012 Certified with the horizontal FOTG rookie autos. I think it looks better than the vertical versions from the past. What is the base price line on the Momentum? Thanks for the pics Tracy!! Have a great week!!

  2. I’m starting to find it really coincidental that whenever Panini busts a box they have hits like the RG3 auto… but when I buy a box of the same stuff I get autos from a 7th round OT, 6th round backup safety, and an undrafted rookie from a community college!

  3. Good stuff. Bummed about the single color. There are vet hits too, right? Still gonna dip in this stuff and can’t wait for americana!

  4. Great looking product!! My daughters and I have 4 boxes pre-ordered and can’t wait to open them! We are hoping for a RG3 or Luck auto so wish us luck! Keep up the great work Panini! You guys are #1

  5. What will it take for me to get that RG3 sent my way…my goodness that is a sweet hit!! I would tattoo Panini on my back for that card. Actually I would take the whole pack number 4 with the base cards as well 🙂 The Chris Givens card has a sweet patch to it.

Rest of the break was okay, the base cards are stunning. And for the price per pack and being able to get a hit is nice. And with 10 hits per box you cannot go wrong. There are no other products that offer that amount of hits. Great stuff as always!

  6. @ Adam You have to realize that this is marketing from panini. You honestly think that if they busted what you just descriped that people would buy there product. Everyone knows what the odds are of pulling good cards its no secret. If 200/ box is so much then dont get it. The cards have a nice feel for it and you get 10 hit cards for 200 which in every product is about $20 a hit card.

  7. I think I like the base cards more than the insert (overall-don’t call me crazy I’d love to get an RG III auto out of a pack). Love the Lee Roy Selmon GU card. I was in Florida with my family in the summer of 2007 and ended up at a Clearwater Phillies (minor league A ball) game. Couldn’t have been 500 people in the stands for the game, but it was all you can eat night. I figured dogs, popcorn, etc, which I would’ve been OK with. But they had lots of local restaurants set up on the concourse and one of them was Lee Roy Selmon’s Ribhouse. They had great ribs!!! Needless to say I skipped the hot dogs that night and ate plate after plate of ribs. Funny what you remember when you see a name. Anyway, looking forward to the product coming out!!

  8. CASE BREAK
Look for at least two autographs per case of players like Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III, Trent Richardson, Justin Blackmon, Ryan Tannehill , Michael Floyd, Kendall Wright, Brandon Weeden, AJ Jenkins, Doug Martin and David Wilson. Now we all know which 2 the paying customers will get, it’s not just the short list of “A” guys you’ve been told Tracy, check how weak some of these “a” list guys show up…..

  9. Cost my firend what is given cost Tracey. I’m on a low budget so it drives me crazy looking at high end stuff I’ll neve rbe able to afford. I’m not sure how this is any different from say Threads or gridiron but the cardsare sweet love the rg3 and I would love to have a Manning auto in Bronco;s uniform.

  10. Ten packs, ten hits, and SIX of those hits were autographs? Did I miss something here? That is a pretty frekin fantastic breakdown IMO. Really like the designs but getting 5+ autos in a box (compared to the typical 2-3) is outstanding. Looking forward to the STUDS inserts as well!

    1. Thanks, Sergio. According to Carlos Torrez, our NFL Brand Manager, eight of the 10 boxes in each master case should deliver six autographs and four mem; the two should deliver five and five.

  11. I opened a box minutes ago and it was terrible. Did get 6 autos, too bad none were any good. 200$ a box for undrafted free agents and 6th round guys, give me a BREAK. Best autograph card I got today was from a free Kickoff pack.

  12. nice product gentlemen! 10 packs, all yielding hits and 6/10 were auto!! im lovin the breakdown, hey tracy that robert griffin looks lonely, if you should feel the need im still looking for an rg3 for me collection!!lol #justsayin .. oops, this not twitter!lol great job panini team!!
