A Teaser Gallery: Panini America Busts the First Box of 2011-12 Prime Hockey

Man, the Panini America NHL team picked a bad week to go out of the office -- not that it had much choice considering the 2012 NHLPA Rookie Showcase is going on in Toronto right now. Still, the fact of the matter is that the guys missed out on this afternoon's delivery of the first 2011-12 Prime Hockey boxes to Panini America HQ.

Man, the Panini America NHL team picked a bad week to go out of the office — not that it had much choice considering the 2012 NHLPA Rookie Showcase is going on in Toronto right now. Still, the fact of the matter is that the guys missed out on this afternoon’s delivery of the first 2011-12 Prime Hockey boxes to Panini America HQ.

I struggled internally with the decision to bust just one box of the highly anticipated new product with so many of our hockey folks out of the office. But since Prime releases in just a few days, and since there’s nothing Panini America hockey collectors love more than a sneak peek, well, I went ahead and busted it. The salivation-starter that follows is a card-by-card gallery of what I pulled in that box. Enjoy.

  1. Nice, you managed to pull a card of one of my main PC players, Cameron Gaunce. What is that one #’ed out of and I’m assuming it will be re-inserted into the product?

      1. That would definitely be a great addition to my PC, especially with those patches. Keep up the good work and I’ll definitely keep my eye out for the contest.

  2. I counted 7 cards when the description says 5. I guess its like Dominion where they fill the pack to busting. Great work Panini.

  3. Absolutely jaw droping!!! The cards look as smooth as ice and theres no doubt that Hockey fans are gonna go nuts over this product! Congrates Panini on your new baby, you guys should be proud!!!! 🙂

  4. I count 7 cards, the package states 5 trading cards. Is this an over stuffed box by mistake or will this be typical of the entire product run?

  5. Impressive …but no laces in this one those are simply amazing…would love to get my hands on one of those……

  6. Certainly another impressive looking release for hockey fans to enjoy, looks like a lot of added value in these boxes over and above the stated odds. I’ll be interested to see how my hockey friend does, I’m sure he’ll be grabbing a handful of boxes at the next card show and he’s usually my barometer for NHL products. Thanks for the preview Tracy!

  7. As a Despres collector I’m super pumped to see his cards in this product. It looks amazing, great job Panini! What is the Despres #/d out of?
