Finally, the week football fans and collectors have been anxiously awaiting for months has arrived — and we’re not necessarily talking about Super Bowl week, either. We’re talking about something perhaps even bigger (at least in collecting circles): Prizm release week.

In three short days, Panini America’s 2012 Prizm Football, one of the most anticipated sports card products of this or any other year, will finally be live in hobby shops across North America. The extraordinary secondary-market performance of Prizm’s trailblazing basketball counterpart, in concert with the product’s much-improved utilization of the popular chromium printing technology, has sent expectations for Prizm Football to seldom-seen heights.

Beginning Wednesday, collectors finally will get to see for themselves what all the fuss is about. Actually, you can start to get a pretty good sense by perusing the gallery that follows. Late Sunday night, we got our hands on the first hobby box of 2012 Prizm Football for the express purpose of this exclusive sneak peek.

  1. Very impressive first box, I’m hopeful that the box vendor at my local show has some of this on Sunday. I may try to split one with a friend or just take the plunge myself! Thanks Tracy!

  2. Wow!! You guys have the best job. Being able to be the first to bust this amazing product. Base cards, rookie logo are spectacular. The Prizms are drool worthy elegance. I really cant wait. The Panini football team really did a great job

  3. Going to be a fun product to bust open. Too bad football does not have near the international following basketball does, because these cards would selling for ton more than what they will already go for. Thanks for the first look.

  4. Wow. Congratulations to Team Panini!
Well done. I’m sure this will be sought after for years and years to come. It will also bring more collectors. Like me,who collects Basketball exclusively. May look and take up football because of this beauty. Very envious about Football Prizm compared to basketball. At Least Basketball gets Kobe Anthology!
Maybe next Year Panini should do A football Anthology too.
Tracy Enjoy The Super Bowl with an ease that you all did great with Prizm.
    Again Congratulations!

  5. I would be more than happy with that box. The Rookie Impact prizms should really look great in person. The picture of the Morris probably doesn’t do it justice. I really like the look of the autographed cards. The auto just pops off the card like it should.

  6. I have to ask why not do more numbered cards? It would be awesome if the red Prizm cards were numbered. Or some of the other inserts. Because while this box was nice, if I bought it I would say ” ehhh its ok but certainly not worth $100″

  7. These look fantastic, great job marketing team for continuing to show us these amazing singles! Keep up the good work fellas!

  8. Love having veteran autos in a set! Rookies are great, but it’s nice to get autos from some guys that haven’t had too many!

  9. Time to find Gold!
Those die cuts reds is sweet, one per box!
    Prizm Football begins.
This will forever be remembered as the day Panini took over Chrome Cards!
It should be when Basketball was released but i would say its this release day because we could actually compare them to Topps Chrome.
Let The Hobby Collectors Decide. In forums it seems that collectors have already decided.
    Panini Wins. Now Go 49’ers

  10. On the side of the Prizm boxes it says to look for autographs of Peyton Manning inside, but he is not on the sell sheet checklist. Can you confirm that he is in here and do you have print runs? Also, is there a chance that Andrew Luck, Russell Wilson, Doug Martin, RG3 etc…redemptions…will be on card autographs? thanks!
