Breaking News: Panini America is Bringing Momentum Back to the Gridiron (Preview)

The "Momentum" product name hasn't been a viable part of the collecting lexicon since the start of the millennium. But that will change in a monumental way in late July when Panini America releases 2012 Momentum Football, a revered name from the pigskin past that has been completely revitalized for a new generation.

The “Momentum” product name hasn’t been a viable part of the collecting lexicon since the start of the millennium. But that will change in a monumental way in late July when Panini America releases 2012 Momentum Football, a revered name from the pigskin past that has been completely revitalized for a new generation.
2012 Momentum Football will deliver 10 three-card packs per box and each pack will include one autograph or memorabilia card; each box will yield one Momentum Rookie Signatures RPS Rookie Card, three to four rookie autographs and five to six memorabilia cards.

Returning right along with the Momentum brand will be the popular Studs insert highlighting noted earring-wearing superstars on cards embedded with real diamonds.
As you take some time to let these developments sink in, here are some of Momentum’s myriad highlights:

  • Each Momentum Rookie Signatures RPS RC will include three pieces of player-worn memorabilia and an autograph.
  • Souvenir Signatures: Certified autographs of current and historic stars fill this insert that is tailor-made for autograph seekers.
  • Head of the Class Materials: Includes player-worn memorabilia of the brightest superstars from this year’s draft. Also look for Head of the Class CombosTriples and Quads.
  • Double Feature Materials: Teaming up two mainstays of the current or past generations. Also look for combos in Double Prime, Triple and Triple Prime variations.
  • Momentum Materials: Seamlessly melding the heroes of the past with the stars of today, these game-worn memorabilia cards will stand the test of time.
  • Also look for Rookie Team Threads Quad Materials Signatures and Black, Blue, Yellow and Red 1/1 Base Set Printing Plate parallels.

  1. Wow this looks so awsome. Can’t wait for a guy who just started this year with his son and daughter collecting. These cards look above amazing.

  2. Great job Panini! Glad you guys are digging back in time and bringing back classics with awesome improvements! Love the look of the base cards! Great design. And not just because its Eli. My favorite has got to be the rookie auto card design. Brilliant!

  3. Awsome something new for us collectors to sink our teeths into!!! Tracy I think the studs insert set sounds like a great new idea! I was wondering are they gonna have some gridiron Legends in it ? I think players like Bo Jackson,Dion Sanders, and Emmitt Smith would be great for it!!!

  4. This looks awesome Tracy, oustanding work guys. Any approximate time when this will be released?
Tracy, just an idea I wanted to throw out, could you guys ever do NFL name boards with signatures? Where do the NFL draft boards go after the draft is done with those players names on them? I love the draft and would love to see more products incorporate draft products and memorbilia.
    Thanks,
    T

    1. It’s due out July 25 as of right now. Glad you like the previews. As for the draft boards, I’m not sure where they go at this point, but I would say that anything is possible.

  5. Reminds me of something like SPGU, but for football. The only difference is, this looks like a better product. More patches and more autographs. Hope to see some on-card content!

  6. Really nice looking product every time something goes up here it looks better than the last release! Some really talented guys and gals running around Panini America getting the job done!

  7. I purchased a box of Momentum Football over the weekend and it did not have a Momentum Rookie Signatures RPS Rookie Card? Based on all the ads a promotions I was expecting one in the box? Has any one else experienced this?
