Packout for Panini America’s upcoming 2014-15 Preferred Basketball began in earnest Friday afternoon, officially triggering the countdown to the product’s highly anticipated June 24 release. Since its introduction in 2011, the Preferred brand has become synonymous with “industry standard” in the realm of epic booklet card design — but for the 2014-15 edition, Panini America’s Creative and Product Development teams are raising the bar considerably.

If you’ve been tuned to the Panini America Twitter and Instagram feeds in the last week or so, you’ve seen glimpses of exactly what that bar-raising entails. Today, as the basketball world prepares for a pivotal Game 5 in the 2015 NBA Finals, we thought we’d open the book, so to speak, on previewing 2014-15 Preferred Basketball’s crazy-rich booklet content.

In a word, the cards you’re about to see — from the Swish, PlaybookRookie Playbook, Stat Line, NBA Finals, NBA Champs and Trending Upward inserts — are spectacular. Consider the gallery that follows your first chapter in a series of must-see previews that will follow here on The Knight’s Lance for the next week or so. Enjoy the scenery and stay tuned for additional coverage of 2014-15 Preferred Basketball.

  1. Those cards are just berserk! Preposterous! Collection center pieces.

I don’t know how much Preferred will creep up in price, but so help me…. I’m going to learn about group break participation. It’s that OR sell my body, so…. Group break it is!

The 1/1 LeBron V. Dray Green is off the chain. I think this subset, affording collectors with a window into some of the most significant individual battles of the playoffs is a magnificent opportunity to flesh out a great PC.
    Well executed, well re-imagined!

  2. That’s some AWESOME STUFF right there Panini! LOVE the booklet with LeBron! I can only dreeammmm 🙂

  3. some of those booklets look very nice. A product that’s a bit hard to afford for a lot of collectors but you can’t please everyone all the time. Just hope the player list doesn’t use to many players from the 60’s or non-stars, if you pay that money you deserve some nice cards.

  4. Absolutely phenomenal! Preferred has always been one of my favorites! You guys really raised the bar in the Booklets, great job Panini!
