Chargers RB Branden Oliver Claims Week 5 2014 Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week Honors

Voters on NFL.com have made their choice. Running back Branden Oliver of the San Diego Chargers is the Week 5 2014 Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week for games played October 2-6, the NFL announced today. Oliver had 114 rushing yards and a touchdown, and caught four passes for 68 yards and a touchdown, in the Chargers’ 31-0 win over the New York Jets.

Oliver was selected from among five finalists through fan votes on NFL.com. The other Week 5 finalists were New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr., Buffalo Bills WR Sammy WatkinsCleveland Browns cornerback K’Waun Williams and St. Louis Rams cornerback E.J. Gaines.

After the regular season, five players will be nominated for 2014 Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year honors. In conjunction with the 2014 Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week promotion, Panini America produces virtual trading cards of each week’s five nominees and a virtual card for each week’s winner.
