On Thursday afternoon in New York City, U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team legend Cobi Jones will help Panini America officially celebrate the launch of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ Sticker Collection in the U.S. with a special appearance at the Modell’s Sporting Goods flagship store in Times Square. The festivities will begin at 2 p.m. when Jones will be joined by New York Cosmos player Hunter Freeman to meet and greet fans and distribute free Panini World Cup Sticker Albums.
In addition, Modell’s is bringing in a Brazilian band and special performers sure to recreate the feel of Brazil right there in Midtown Manhattan. Jones and Freeman also will sign free autographs for fans in attendance. Before his Modell’s appearance on Thursday, Jones will take over the Panini America Twitter account from 11:30 to 12 EST to engage fans and answer questions using the #PaniniTakeover hash tag.

“The 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ Sticker Collection from Panini is the single largest sports collectible in the world and there’s no better place to celebrate its release in this country than in the heart of Times Square with Modell’s and an American World Cup icon like Cobi Jones,” said Jason Howarth, Panini America Vice President of Marketing.
The event will signify a much larger roll-out and the beginning of activation elements in the New York City market with free 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ sticker sheets being inserted into New York Daily News papers on April 13, 14, 20 and 21, delivering more than 13 million stickers into the market. In addition, Modell’s will be launching Panini Trading Days on Saturday, April 19, turning select Modell’s locations into Panini World Cup Sticker Headquarters where fans of all ages can go to trade and expand their collections. Panini World Cup Sticker events will provide fans with special giveaways, promotions and an opportunity to meet fellow collectors in their areas.
