Donruss Football Releases as NFL Playoff Picture Takes Shape
Football season doesn’t start until after Thanksgiving. Right, Bill Belichick? Well, here we are. As long-leftover turkey starts to go bad in the fridge, the NFL playoff picture is starting to come together.
Likewise, the market for trading cards is starting to heat up. A week after Black Friday, the iconic Donruss Football makes its way to the open market on Dec. 1. Let’s preview that anticipated set while walking through the postseason race.
No team has officially punched a ticket to the playoffs just yet, although the Eagles are close. The NFC-topping bunch is obviously represented in Donruss Football, including in the beloved Rated Rookies insert. There, you can find cards of Jalen Carter, Nolan Smith and Tanner McKee.
Out in the AFC, the Ravens, Chiefs and Dolphins are all sitting pretty. Those championship contenders show up in the always popular Downtown set, where beautifully illustrated cards of Zay Flowers, Patrick Mahomes and Dan Marino await being unpacked.
If the season ended today, a pair of AFC North rivals would hold wild-card spots. Pittsburgh and Cleveland both have rich histories that can be explored in Donruss Football. Look for autographs from historic players like Ben Roethlisberger, Joe Thomas and Jack Lambert.
A surprise contender is forming in Indianapolis, where the Colts have played sharp football en route to a real chance at January football. Anthony Richardson, one of the league’s most promising youngsters, can be found all over 2023 Donruss, including autographs.
Returning to the NFC, we find consistent contender San Francisco holding a narrow edge over emergent Detroit. Celebrate the former’s past with a Steve Young autographed card, or look to the latter’s bright future with a Rated Rookie Jahmyr Gibbs.
Of course, we would never go without mentioning the eye-catching Gridiron Marvels insert. Bijan Robinson, who is headlining the NFC South-leading Falcons, and Dak Prescott, who has the Cowboys in great shape for a seed, both feature cards in that set.
Thanks in part to Tank Dell’s emergence, the Texans are getting hot at the right time and have a real shot of making the playoffs for the first time since 2019. Dell was nice enough to provide his autograph for this release.
Even if your favorite team isn’t in the hunt for a postseason spot, it will still be well-represented in 2023 Donruss Football. Chargers superstar Justin Herbert shows up throughout various aforementioned sets, while signatures from Darrelle Revis and Aaron Rodgers can cheer up Jets fans.
You can also search for on-card autographs of past champs via Super Bowl Signatures.
With 18 packs per hobby box and 10 cards per pack, you have well over a hundred chances to pull something special in 2023 Donruss Football.
