I've gotta be honest with you: Two days ago, I didn't even know what "The Dougie" was. Today, I find it to be nothing less than the single greatest dance in the history of the free world. Let's be honest, watching Sports Illustrated swimsuit sensation Kate Upton bust "The Dougie" in the sports world's latest viral video sensation can work wonders on bringing a guy around.
Editor’s Note: This post first appeared on April 16, 2011. But given Kate Upton’s continued ascension into supermodel superstardom, we felt like now was a good time to revisit it.
I’ve gotta be honest with you: Two days ago, I didn’t even know what “The Dougie” was. Today, I find it to be nothing less than the single greatest dance in the history of the free world. Let’s be honest, watching Sports Illustrated swimsuit sensation Kate Upton bust “The Dougie” in the sports world’s latest viral video sensation can work wonders on bringing a guy around.
To be sure, Upton was in the mood to groove during a timeout in last Saturday’s game between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Los Angeles Clippers at the Staples Center. Luckily for the more than 500,000 people who’ve watched the video so far, “Teach Me How To Dougie” came on the arena sound system and some enterprising sort nearby was quick with a camera phone.
The rest, as you’ll see below, is YouTube history.
As the video made the rounds inside Panini America HQ last week, Marketing VP Jason Howarth remembered that Washington Wizards rookie John Wall, the No. 1 pick in the 2010 NBA Draft and one of our exclusive spokesmen, was quite adept at “The Dougie” during the NBA Rookie Photo Shoot last summer.
His idea (and just one reason why he makes the big bucks): Let’s have The Knight’s Lance visitors decide who does the better Dougie: Kate Upton or John Wall. So do yourself a favor and please watch the following really short clips — first Wall, then Upton.
When you’re done in less than two minutes, wipe the drool from your chin and please place your vote in the poll after the videos.
John Wall Does “The Dougie”:

A major component of the Dougie is leg movement and Kate Upton really should have been standing. That fact that she can pull that off sitting shows great potential. But I have to give this one to John Wall, base on legs and freestyling, another important component of the Dougie. And even after all that I find myself compelled to revisit Kate Upton’ video a few more times just to make sure.
Sorry guys big fan of John, but Kate wins this hands down.
KATE IS AWESOME!!!!!!
JW’s Dougie is tight, but I gotta give it to Kate, hers has more “bounce” in the right places. Actually the hair thing just dropped my jaw, I ain’t even gonna lie.
@KZed nailed it… the Dougie in general is a great song to freestyle to, which is what makes it so great. it’s completely up to personal interpretation. that being said, and after review…and subsequent re-reviews, i like Kate’s better.
Hope my wife can’t see my vote :0
Sorry Wall, this one is Kate’s.
Being a Kentucky fan for life and very happy for Wall’s success, I think I’m still going to have to go with Kate Upton’s “Dougie”. Any time you get to see a beautiful woman dance, it’s always better than watching a man do it.
Upton did the simplified “white person” version – the drive-the-car / wipe-your-head motions. This one goes to Wall.
I choose D – Jeremy Lin
I should not have watched this video while I was at work. 🙁 I hope nobody heard me in the next cubicle. 🙂
Sigh….sometimes I wished we all looked alike. Then we wouldn’t know what we’re missing.
Sigh……
