With the long-awaited launch date of 2010 Panini Plates & Patches Football just six days away, final preparations are being made to the inaugural edition of a product that’s still being printed, cut, collated, boxed, wrapped and readied to ship as of this post.

The quality-control checks, it should be noted, were completed earlier this week over a span of two days. We showed you most of the to-die-for cards from that process in a two-part gallery that you can see here and here. You can also watch exclusive “in action” video of the process after the jump.

But before we get to the video, we want to share just a few more images from the final QC case, a gallery made possible when a breathless Ben EcklarPanini America‘s Director of Product Development, needed one more last-minute case to ensure everything in Plates & Patches was falling according to plan. It’s worth noting that after the cards below were scanned, they were immediately returned to the printing plant and hand-fed back into the line.

For the full effect, be sure to watch the video at th end of the gallery.

Watch as the Panini America football team — Ecklar, Carlos Torrez and Joe White — gets hands-on during the Plates & Patches QC process . . .

  1. I really like the look of this product. There are a lot of hits and the packaging looks great. It looks like a mini version of National Treasures with the other hits coming in a small sealed box within the larger box. Having the slabbed card makes for a more interesting effect. It almost makes it feel like you’re getting more value in the product. When in fact, if the slabbed card wasn’t encased, it would be just another card in the box. Overall, I cannot wait to get my first few boxes. Group breaks should be a lot fun with this product. I hope to get a case for myself at some point.

  2. Very nice cards. I see the D Thomas and R Matthews nice cards that are stickers which are fine. BUT, where are my redemptions for Certified & Crown Royale – shouldn’t they be made and sent out first?

  3. I……..want……..that………stafford………so………..fricken……….bad………………OH MY FRICKEN GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
