Football Mystery, Hockey Newness Abound on the Panini America Routing Table

One of my New Year's resolutions for 2012 (along with getting back into -- and staying in -- shape) is venturing to the fabled Panini America Routing Table more often. I made a habit of it early last year and got some great sneak peeks along the way. But as 2011 progressed, other tasks took precedent.

One of my New Year’s resolutions for 2012 (along with getting back into — and staying in  — shape) is venturing to the fabled Panini America Routing Table more often. I made a habit of it early last year and got some great sneak peeks along the way. But as 2011 progressed, other tasks took precedence.

Starting today, however, the Routing Table once again became a weekly ritual — and what I discovered this morning was both extremely mysterious (football) and quite revealing (2011-12 Elite Hockey and 2011-12 Contenders Hockey).

As for the mystery, let me say that there’s not much that gets past me around here when it comes to new developments on the product front. But right there before my eyes on the Routing Table just a few minutes ago were preliminary designs for either an insert in one of our late-season football products or a whole new set entirely. I’m not sure which and no one’s talking.

What I can tell you is that the designs look tremendous and appear to be for booklet cards that include autographs and memorabilia. That’s about all I know at this point. I’ll keep digging for information and keep you posted on what I discover. To be sure, though, this has the makings of something really cool.

The Routing Table also offered early examinations of products or elements of products that I do know about, namely 2011-12 Elite Hockey and 2011-12 Contenders Hockey.

(Now as always, the standard Routing Table caveat applies here: Everything you’re about to see, although very cool, is in varying stages of development, is not final and can still be changed through both internal and external approval processes. But the images will give you a great feel for the excitement to come.)

Clearly, there’s a lot to see in the gallery below. So take your sweet time in drinking it in. In the meantime, I’ll do my best to get more information on these mysterious new football cards. Stay tuned.

  1. – I love that the Cam Newton card disloses the date that the jersey was worn at a rookie premiere event. I appreciate as detailed info as available, instead of just generic “game worn” or “event worn”.
    – I love how the Prime Numbers cards look to be die-cut to interlock together.
    – I love the booklet cards that are in the works – Starting Lineup, Original Six, Match-ups.

    Looking good, thanks for sharing!

  2. Tracy,
Will there be autographs of Carey Price in the Contenders this year, I love the look of the cards?
Can’t wait for pictures of Leblanc’s first cards.

Can’t wait til you find out and let us know what these will be in Hopefully these will be left alone and wont change the design. they really are stunning. .Sort of Reminds me of a Pinnacle brand back in the late 90’s.
