Gallery: Panini America Breaks Early Boxes of 2013-14 National Treasures Hockey

If 2013-14 National Treasures Hockey truly is the final Panini America NHL trading card product you'll ever see, I have but one thing to say: What a way to go. Following a steady, anticipation-building week of live Tweets from the Panini America production facility, we finally got a look at some of the first finished boxes of the product earlier this afternoon. We grabbed two at random for the express purpose of providing the following Teaser Gallery.

If 2013-14 National Treasures Hockey truly is the final Panini America NHL trading card product you’ll ever see, I have but one thing to say: What a way to go. Following a steady, anticipation-building week of live Tweets from the Panini America production facility, we finally got a look at some of the first finished boxes of the product earlier this afternoon. We grabbed two at random for the express purpose of providing the following Teaser Gallery.

Based on the results of these two early boxes, 2013-14 National Treasures Hockey is not as good as the packout pics have shown. It’s better. Despite boxes that promise eight NHL trading cards, each of the two boxes we opened delivered 11. Of those 22 total cards, we uncovered two base cards, eight autographs, two autograph booklets, five memorabilia cards, four Printing Plate 1/1s and one Buried Treasure card.

Each box delivers a fast-paced hit parade of sorts that will resonate throughout North America when the product arrives in hobby shops on Friday. To help properly prepare you for the magic to come, the gallery below takes you card by card through our two boxes. Be sure you’re sitting down and then enjoy.

We’d love to hear your thoughts . . .

  1. Wait, its not wodden boxes? Its still the most awesome Hockey product ever made. Even better then NT basketball. suck on that NHL.

  2. That “Buried Treasure” Sidney Crosby is amazing! Looking forward to breaking a box for my birthday and joining a few group breaks to enjoy what looks to be the greatest hockey product of all time.

  3. For $400 a box, those two boxes looked pretty rough….. hope the breaks and boxes I bought don’t look like these 2

  4. Wow, just wow. Wish I could afford a box of this.

Anyways, are those cards going to be re-packed? If not, please do a contest to at least give away those 1/1’s. 🙂 I would love to get my hands on even one printing plate in my lifetime, as those are true 1/1’s for each color.

  5. Love the product!! Cannot wait to open my Case!!! Great way to go out Panini, and thank you Tracy for the great pictures!!!

  6. Tracy, I have a question for you:

What do you do with the above cards from the breaks above?

Do you re-insert them back into packs?

I have a great collection of Adam Larsson (75+ cards) and was wondering if that Larsson Titanium Plate will be back into boxes

please let me know because that is a card that I’m going to need for my PC, thanks!

  7. Going to be impressive to see. I won’t be busting any cause I don’t have that kind of money but I hope collectors share their hits!

  8. It looks like a mishmash of the other Panini Products. We really do not need another set of Phenoms do we? Or the Yakupov that resembles the Anthology or Titanium re do’s. Dominion to me was better than those 2 boxes. Hope I am wrong, but we will see.
