LOS ANGELES — Full of the pomp, circumstance and fun that has come to earmark one of the sports card industry’s most important events, the entertaining spectacle that is the 2013 NFLPA Rookie Premiere kicked off with a bang Wednesday afternoon inside the Panini America Player Lounge. In all, 18 of the 40 top NFL rookies assembled at this year’s event made their through the Panini America room, signing on-card autographs for upcoming products such as 2013 Prestige Football and 2013 Elite Football.

Headlining Wednesday’s guest list: New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith, St. Louis Rams receivers Tavon Austin and Stedman Bailey, San Diego Chargers linebacker Manti Te’o, Denver Broncos running back Montee Ball and San Francicso 49ers teammates Marcus Lattimore and Quinton Patton.

During a highly productive three-hour stint Wednesday afternoon, the rookies filled the Panini America room with a healthy buzz, casual conversation, an abundance of laughs and an air of unmistakable stardom.

One of my favorite moments from Day One: Seattle Seahawks running back Christine Michael suggesting that he sign some of his 2013 Prestige Football NFL Passport autographs with the team-color green Staedtler pen initially reserved for his Elite Inscriptions. The result was an overly attractive green-ink version that will be limited to just 33 cards.

The following gallery provides some unique behind-the-scenes flavor to Wednesday’s proceedings. Stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance all week long for continued coverage of the 2013 NFLPA Rookie Premiere, including a complete recap of Thursday’s big events.

  3. So I guess I will have to wait until the real jersey # is on Montee Balls cards to buy anything. How much longer would it have taken to get pictures in their actual jersey #? I think it would be worth the wait. The cards look great so with the non-mascot uniforms on they would be unbelievable

  4. Wow I wish I had a ticket to this event! Damn that would be the ultimate prize for someone to win one year. Just the chance to spend an hour with all those players would have been amazing. This years rookie class was so hated on, but come kickoff I’m sure there will be a lot of surprises!
Thanks for the pics Tracy just wish I was the one posting them lol!

  5. Is Terrence Williams going to be there for Dallas Tracy? I’m dieing to get his autographed stuff, but its a nice sight seeing Escobar up there. Any news on Joesph Randle too would be awesome!! Thanks buddy… don’t work to hard!!

  6. That’s so awesome!! I gotta start saving right now haha It will be a huge year for me. Thanks alot for the heads up Tracy!! Seen the Escobar signed Letter’s today and I already want them!!

  7. The only Giants rookie I am partial to this year is Nassib sadly. Glad to see he is signing a lot of stuff. But as the Giants stated, I hope he doesn’t see the field in the next 10 years. But hopefully makes for a great backup. This year I think my collecting focuses will be on other teams players. I am an offense collector so last years Giants class had a lot of collectible. This years will be focused on other teams.

Can’t wait for some Panini 2013 cards..lets go Score!
