Today’s highly anticipated hobby arrival of Panini America’s 2014 Contenders Football marked the welcome return — after a long season away — of the many landmark staples that have made Contenders one of the most-beloved brands in the modern sports-card arena: Rookie Ticket Autographs. Variations. Short-print mysteries. And . . . gold.

For the fifth consecutive season, Panini America officials have added a limited number of rare Golden Ticket 14-karat gold 1/1s to Contenders, no doubt fueling a nationwide gold rush in the coming weeks as the product gets broken and the Golden Ticket redemption cards begin to surface. But there’s more than just gold randomly inserted in them thar 2014 Contenders Football packs this season. For the first time ever, there’s silver, too.

To be sure, the sterling debut of Silver Tickets cards (each numbered to just two) in 2014 Contenders Football adds even more precious-metal might to an already-stacked product. In the gallery below, we offer a gold and silver rush of our own by showcasing some of the goods — which are available to be redeemed immediately.

Enjoy . . .

  1. Do you know why it takes the warehouse so long to ship out a card that is in existance? I redeemed a Forte about a month ago and asked the customer service person why it takes so long and he responded that the player has to be batched before it can be sent. Since this isnt autographed his response isnt applicable. Any insight into why I have to wait so long for something I have paid for would be great.
