When it comes to the heart of the 2012-13 NBA collecting season, well, we’re smack dab in the middle of it right now. Past & Present released last week, with both Momentum and Brilliance coming hot on its heels. After that? None other than perennial product-of-the-year front-runner Gold Standard.

Over the next several days, we’ll share several captivating looks at both Momentum and Brilliance. Today, however, we’re going for the gold. Inspired by last night’s scorching action in the NBA Playoffs between Chicago and Miami and Golden State and San Antonio, we ventured back to the Panini America Acquisitions vault earlier today to see what we could come up with.

And what we came up with was nothing less than a goldmine. Literally, a dazzling, drool-inducing stash of some of the nicest NBA trading cards we’ve seen all season; a drop-dead-gorgeous array of on-card autographs sure to make 2012-13 Gold Standard Basketball sparkle brighter than any edition has to date.

Enjoy this must-see first look at 2012-13 Gold Standard Basketball and stay tuned tomorrow for a thorough examination of 2012-13 Brilliance Basketball. (Oh, and just because we couldn’t wait to share, we’ve also provided two cards from the upcoming 2012-13 Elite Series Basketball.)

  1. Those are freaking ridiculous and beautiful designs to the cards! The on-card autos, along with the memorabilia really bring out the card more. Great stuff Panini, keep it up !

  2. Look at the beauty of on-card autographs! Big, bold, the players actually have room to sign their full names! This set is gorgeous and should be the standard. Unfortunately, this makes all your sticker products (ie. the majority of Momentum) look like they belong in the bargain bin.

  3. I love the GS product Panini produces the cards are gorgeous! The cards look marvelous in the ultra pro magnetic card protectors!

Aloha & Mahalo from beautiful Hawaii

  4. On card autos = Golden . These have a great look to them, especially the RPA’s. I cant wait to see the previews of Brilliance(At least one set in particular) over the next few days! 😀

  5. Nice preview, I just finished watching Rick Fox acting on the show “Oz” (we’re re-watching it after a few years, it’s one of my all-time fave) so it’s funny that you would lead the gallery with his auto. Thanks as always Tracy!

  6. Hey Tracy, what insert sets are involved in Gold Standard? The cards look great- can’t wait to see some 14k cards!

  7. Best basketball release to come out for awhile, just curious how the base look and what is the box breakdown? Price range also per box?

    1. We have some great LeBron base, insert and memorabilia cards. We can’t do autographs of him because he has an exclusive deal with another manufacturer. I understand you being sad about that.
