Golden Moment: 2010 Playoff Contenders Emmitt Smith Golden Ticket Finds a Home

James Smith knew that the new card of his dreams -- the one and only 2010 Playoff Contenders Emmitt Smith Golden Ticket -- was ultimately worth more than $1,550. So he relied on seller's sense of passion and football card justice to do the right thing.

James Smith knew that the new card of his dreams — the one and only 2010 Playoff Contenders Emmitt Smith Golden Ticket — was ultimately worth more than $1,550. So he relied on seller’s sense of passion and football card justice to do the right thing.

Smith’s pitch was a convincing one. As one of the country’s preeminent Emmitt Smith collectors, James wasn’t looking to buy the card and flip it for a profit. He was looking to add an heirloom-quality collecting cornerstone to his collection — forever.

Turns out the first day of forever was last Saturday, when Smith took possession of the card during a most golden mailday. Luckily for us, his girlfriend videotaped the festivities.
