SuperBowlBlog

While teams, fans and media are busy descending upon New Orleans for what’s sure to be an epic game, officials at Panini America have cleverly designed what can only be described as the Super Bowl of trading card promotions. For a limited time only and while supplies last, customers who purchase one box of NFL product (hobby or retail) at iCollectPanini.com with an MSRP of at least $60 or more will be eligible for one Super Bowl XLVII Black Box. Included in each special-edition black box is one randomly inserted card — a guaranteed autograph from the star-studded lineup below and featured in the gallery.

Panini America Marketing Manager Scott Prusha has put together a staggering collection of special Super Bowl cards — all autographed and all numbered to a low quantity. Included in the set are three one-of-one diamond studded cards of three Super Bowl MVP Quarterbacks with roots in the New Orleans area:  Peyton Manning, Eli Manning and Drew Brees.

Also included in the set are special-edition Private Signings inspired Super Bowl autograph cards of Joe Montana (#’d 1/1), Eli Manning, Drew Brees, Andre Reed, Emmitt Smith, Brett Favre, Eddie George, Hines Ward, Bart Starr, Thurman Thomas, Franco Harris, Howie Long, Terry Bradshaw, Steve Young, Terrell Davis, Tom Rathman, Roger Craig (#’d 1/1), Rod Woodson, Michael Strahan, Ronnie Lott, Peyton Manning, Santonio Holmes, Phil Simms, Michael Irvin, Joe Greene, Jim Kelly, Larry Csonka, Jim Plunkett, John Riggins, Jim McMahon, Jerome Bettis, Jerry Rice, Marcus Allen and Joe Namath. All autographed and all serial-numbered no higher than 25.

Still not enough? Just in case none of those cards whet your appetite then how about the addition of an autographed memorabilia card of the top rookies from the 2012 season? Included in this set is #1 Overall Draft Pick and Panini Authentic Exclusive Andrew Luck along with Robert Griffin III, Russell Wilson, Doug Martin, Justin Blackmon, Brandon Weeden, Trent Richardson and Ryan Tannehill. All autographed with a jersey swatch and all numbered to 25 or less.

Collectors who purchase one box of any 2012 Panini NFL product with an MSRP of $60 or more at iCollectPanini.com will receive one Super Bowl XLVII Black Box. Multiple purchases are allowed – in other words, if you purchase five boxes of eligible product then you will receive five Super Bowl XLVII Black Boxes, as long as the MSRP is $60 or more and while supplies last.

As always, we have provided you with a glimpse of the greatness below — stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for Super Bowl XLVII coverage this week from New Orleans. And make sure to Tweet out photos of your black box hits to #PaniniWildCard for a chance to win more prizes!

  1. I would love that Howie Long!!
At any stage in the future, are international buyers (I am in New Zealand) going to be able to purchase from your store?
    Thanks!

    1. Echo this.. I thought at one stage the point of iCollect was to make these kind of offers available to non-US/CA customers..

      1. Sorry Chris, reading on mobile and the author is in a different area. Plus force of habit, you know how it is. I appreciate your efforts as well sir!

  2. damn could’ve at least stocked up on stuff before releasing this..your already out of your cheaper hobby boxes in less than 2 hrs

  3. It says that the prime signatures are sold out how soon until you could get those back in and would the promotion still be going on?

  4. Just bought a Prime Sigs. Can’t wait for it and the Super Bowl Promo pack. Thanks Panini for the amazing promo!!!

  5. Not a big football collector but a HUGE fan and love how these cards look… Still only collect basketball tho… hahaha..
If i am going to the actual superbowl are there any booths or anyway I can get my hands on anything cool?

  6. Wow, thanks for this GREAT promotion Chris!! I just hope you will still have some boxes in stock this Friday when I get my paycheck! Keep up the great work Chris!

  7. In the beginning it says A panini NFL product towards the end it says any 2012 panini NFL product as long as either are $60+… my question is does it HAVE to be a 2012 product or can I buy a 2011 NFL product? Thank you in advance!

  8. Incredible promotion, Chris! I picked up 3 boxes. Are there more players in the Black Boxes or have you listed/shown them all here in the blog?

  9. Are you expecting to get more Prime Sigs in ?? as i would like to up my order as well

  10. Hello panini folks ! Seeing if you guys have a price on what your prism football is going to be sold for ? Let me know. Thanks.

  11. Is there any way to get one of these promo packs with out having to buy a box? Please tell me there is! Thanks John Andrews.

  12. Looks good,Great idea for the Super Bowl, only thing I can say is some pic choices could of been better ,like the Private Signings: 1st Drew Brees 2nd Jim Kelly 3rd Jim McMahon. (Just goofy faces) Also since its limted number signings,It would of been nice to see ON-CARD autos with the Stars/HoFs n even the rookies.

    1. This is definitely an example of the “don’t stare a gift horse in the mouth” proverb. Like most collectors, I too prefer on-card autos, but I think it’s obvious from the different color ink on the stickers that these autos were not procured at the same time and some are likely leftover stickers from products perhaps over 2 years old. To put something like this together with on-card autos would be quite the task taking at least a year’s worth of planning/production time. For what it is, I think that the design work is great and look forward to my boxes. The one gripe I do have is that the Panini designers didn’t use different images for the 2 Terry Bradshaw cards.

      1. Agreed. It seems like, from the pictures anyway, that the autos are at least consistent on their background color. I’ve gotten autos before on a retro-themed product that had a holographic foil sticker on it (other company). Talk about inconsistent or odd.

I like the serial numbering on the cards too!

Anyway, looking very much forward to my order and seeing who I get. I’ve seen enough about Panini’s black boxes that I jumped on the promo right away. I will try to post a link to a picture (sorry-no tweeter here) of who I get.

I can’t wait for next year’s Super Bowl in NY! I know it won’t be a warm day (although it did make a run at 70 today in suburban philadelphia). Hopefully, I’ll get to some of the Super Bowl Week activities!!

    1. We are working to get all orders out ASAP. You will receive a notification once your order is processed and shipped. You should have already received an order confirmation.

      1. I did, thanks! Looking forward to receiving my order. Are you able to give an estimate on the number of Super bowl packs there were?

  13. Received my order today. Posted pics on twitter @SportsCardBlog and pulled a Phil Simms auto #/25 and Russell Wilson auto/patch #/15! Great promo guys! (Plus some great hits from Prime Sigs!)

  14. My best estimate based on numbers shown in the pic is a total of 2841+ packs. That is factoring in the 34 prime signing subjects x 75 autos (/1, /2, /3, /5, /10, /14, /15, /25) and 8 rookies at 35 each (/10, /25) plus the 3 extra 1/1s with the diamonds. That is just off the picture….HOW CLOSE AM I? 🙂

  15. I posted my three box results on Twitter on Thursday night using @PaniniAmerica and the #PaniniWildCard hash tag. Hands down, this was the best promo I’ve ever seen direct from a manufacturer. If Scott is ever in the Phoenix area, I’ll buy his lunch.

  16. I received my order confirmation via email on 1/29, have yet to receive a shipping confirmation. Any idea when the rest will be mailed out?

  17. Not sure what the problem is but I have yet to receive any shipping updates on my order that was confirmed, last week tuesday (29th).
I requested an update via email (icollectpanini.com) but like the status of my order, I have received no response.
Seeing all the other breaks that people have received from this fantastic promotion and the great cards that have already been pulled, the chance of pulling something great have really dropped but it would be nice to at least get what I paid for.

Any idea when my order will be shipped would be truly appreciated. Thanks

          1. Best

            Promotion

            Ever

            !!!!

I hope Panini does something like this again!!

PS-Fathers Day is coming, any news about that for this year yet??

  18. Far and away the best promo by any sports card manufacturer ever. Received my two Black Boxes and was ecstatic to pull a card of my favorite player from my childhood (Terry Bradshaw #/10) and one of my current favorite players (Drew Brees #/15). I am speechless!!! Thanks Panini.

  19. Quick follow-up: received my order and had a crazy nice pull, check my YouTube channel for the break (big hit is for sale if anyone is interested). Very happy with this promotion overall, thanks Panini!

Question: I still have not seen an Andrew Luck from the set hit ebay or get pulled on any of the break videos. The chase for his card was half the reason I bought a box, the other half being Peyton of course. I really want to at least see the card, any word on how SP it was and if a picture was taken of any before they were sent out? Thanks!
