Kevin Durant Autographs Highlight 2010-11 Absolute Memorabilia Basketball

Basketball collectors rejoice. Kevin Durant autographs are finally headed to Panini America products.

Basketball collectors rejoice. Kevin Durant autographs are finally headed to Panini America products.

Indeed, signatures from Oklahoma City’s dynamic, collection-making dynamo are sure to inject additional excitement and value into 2010-11 Absolute Memorabilia Basketball when that perennial hit-yielding machine releases March 6.

In addition to the unprecedented luster that piggybacks the addition of Durant’s John Hancock, 2010-11 Absolute Memorabilia will stay true to its hit-per-pack legacy with each four-pack box delivering four autograph or memorabilia cards, four other inserts and one Retired Greats numbered to 499 or less.

The product’s 150-card base set is bolstered by 15 short-printed Rookies and 35 of the aforementioned Retired Greats. Each box will yield at least one Rookie Premiere Materials Signature numbered to 499 or less. Something for diehard set collectors to keep in mind: There will be just 449 base sets available.

“There are so many working parts to Absolute, which has been a big part of this brand’s identity both in basketball and in other sports,” says Panini America Basketball Brand Manager Mike Payne. “Whenever you’re looking at building a set, there’s always some exciting aspects to the process, but there’s  always some concern, too, with the lineup. Do you keep a proven formula that works? Or do you shake it up just for the sake of shaking it up? Ultimately, we chose to stay with what works – high-quality cards, a challenging base set, key autograph signers and – for the first time in Absolute – Kevin Durant autographs.

“We recognize the significance of what Absolute means to collectors and box busters. For that, Absolute remains a hit-driven product, with two autographs and two memorabilia cards per four-pack box.”

  1. Wow, those cards look amazing! Will be very interesting to see how much the first Durant autos that pop up will fetch. Getting him to sign is huge.

  2. That is exciting news. His autos are going to help bolster the value of opening Panini product. Hopefully his autos will appear in more than just Absolute.

  3. Nice cards Tracy, but how do I know it is an AUTHENTIC Durant autograph. You know that is my area of hobby expertise and I would have to examine one of the signed, low-numbered patch cards to give it the “Steve Seal of Approval”, which I know Panini wants to get. Just send samples to the address Panini has on file for me and I will proud to give the Durant auto’s a once-over. You may want to send a Bird, Wall, and Kobe autographed sample too. I really do not mind helping you out Brother.

  4. 1. I think that the sell sheet with the posed photo of Durant with the textured background looks great. THAT should be the design of an autographed insert set.

    2. The design on the Hoopla autographed insert? Ugh. Sticker autograph? Yuck.

    3. I wish Panini would step up their designs. I see so many repetitive designs incorporating a single color based vector bars in the background of the card. You see it used in the John Wall card, the Rajon Rondo card, the Magic Johnson card ,the Kevin Durant card AND the Kobe Bryant card in the sample images above.

  5. I can’t stand the long wait, but if you can only distribute them EXACTLY the same way you did Absolute Memorabilia football, I bought at least 45 packs (retail) of them.

  6. Tracy, your keeping in touch with customers is amazing! 🙂
I’m just wondering, these cards are supposed to be out in a week, will the checklists be up before then? Thanks
