Kings Goalie Jonathan Quick Has One Word for Collectors Holding His Redemptions

April 15, 2013

And that one word is a succinct, sincere, hand-scribbled “Sorry!” He wrote it last week — fittingly atop a redemption card for one of his Jumbo Jersey Autographs from 2012-13 Limited Hockey — during a Panini America signing session when the Los Angeles Kings were in town to play the Dallas Stars.

The card instantly became a compelling conversation piece even before he autographed the bottom of it. But Quick did much more than offer a written apology to collectors during his time with Panini America officials. He got a crash course in the redemption card process, and signed some cards — including Social Signatures and Inscriptions — for upcoming releases.

Heck, the Stanley Cup champion was even so accommodating as to film a special edition of Panini Unwrapped with Panini America NHL Brand Manager Chris Barr. Fittingly, the duo busted 2012-13 Limited Hockey, a box on which Quick is featured and that he signed after the break.

We’ll have much more on our sit-down with Quick in the coming days right here on The Knight’s Lance. But for now, we thought you’d appreciate the fact that Quick understands the uneasiness and inconvenience that often accompanies redemption cards — and that he’s sorry about it.
