Kyrie, Shaq Headline Stunning Early Batch of 2012-13 Flawless Basketball Arrivals

With Panini America's 2012-13 Intrigue Basketball slated to arrive in hobby shops on Wednesday, that leaves two remaining NBA products on the 2012-13 release calendar -- and both are going to be huge. One is 2012-13 Immaculate Basketball (which we previewed a while back and will showcase in greater detail later this week); the other is 2012-13 Flawless Basketball (which we teased to incredible buzz a few weeks ago).

If you saw that original post on The Knight’s Lance, you already know that 2013 NBA Rookie of the Year Damian Lillard will have on-card autographs in Flawless. But he’ll be joined in that product by fellow ROYs Kyrie Irving and Shaquille O’Neal as well as some of the greatest current superstars and retired legends the NBA has ever known.

But we mention Irving and O’Neal specifically today because they recently returned a jaw-dropping array of on-card Flawless autographs to Panini America HQ — and we simply couldn’t wait to show them off.

Their impressive handwritten handiwork follows in the gallery below, and foretells of the greatness to come in 2012-13 Flawless Basketball. We’ll have much more on this history-making release right here on The Knight’s Lance in the coming days. Until then, take the necessary time to appreciate these stunners . . .

  1. These look soooooo good. The foiling on the 5th photo reminds me of the foiling you see on money. Take it as you will, I look forward to seeing this product opened.

  2. Very nice! I think it would have been cool to have the players sign the Green foiled cards in Green Ink and the Red foiled in Red Ink.

P.S. I know its a long shot, but are Ilyasova, Mbah a Moute, or Larry Sanders in Flawless??

    1. I surely hope Ilyasova, Mbah a Moute, or Larry Sanders aren’t in Flawless. Imagine dropping $1250 on a box and ending up with one of their autos as a hit…….

    1. Wally, I think the reason the patches are covered is because they aren’t all one patch. They’re two small pieces….at least that’s how they appear to me if you look closely.

  3. I thought WWE Night of Champions will be the highlight of the day, what was ok thou, but it seams i was wrong, this gallery gives more satisfaction to the eyes!

  4. Tracy, what’s up with all the parallels? Seems like the set won’t be as limited as I thought with the 10ish parallels of one player (and with only one saying rookie). What’s going to be the approximate case run of this?

  5. My opinion is that this product is phenomenal. It’s clearly made out to be as high end (or higher) than National Treasures!

My only constructive criticism is that there isn’t much difference between the insert sets. For instance, you see in that one picture that there’s a Shaquille O’Neal patch autograph to 1, 5, 10, 15, and 20. The picture of Shaq is the same, and the patches all look identical. The only difference is the border. Thus, in essence it feels like there’s actually 51 chances to get that card instead of just 1, or 5, or 10, etc. It would probably be more beneficial to have sets where the 1/1 is a logoman/tag/team-patch type of thing, the cards to 5 being something like a dual patch, the ones to 10 being amazing single patches, and the ones to 15 being standard 1-color jersey cards (or something to that extent). The only reason I say that is because if I was trying to buy one of those cards as a single, I wouldn’t offer someone more for the Shaq card numbered to 15 than I would offer to the person trying to give me the one numbered to 20, which signals to me that I cannot distinguish those cards from one another in value. As long as I have one of those 51, I wouldn’t really care which one after the 1/1.

Finally, I don’t don’t believe I can attest to knowing every single basketball product ever made, but I would love to know if we could officially mark this product down as the single most expensive PACK of basketball cards ever made. We could have a world record on our hands folks! Shall you be calling Guinness or shall I?!

    1. Drew, I agree 100% with everything you wrote. I really expected more from a pack that would cost me $1,250+. At the end of the day 1/20, 1/15 or even 1/10 parallel cards really don’t make any difference in value, especially in an already high end products such as Flawless. I really hope that Panini added real high end chase card such as logoman one of one with a diamond in it or something like that. Otherwise, this would definitely result in a disappointment, especially when compared to what Upper Deck was able to achieve in game changing 2003-04 Exquisite Basketball. Tracy, if you are reading this, can you please let us know if you have logomen in this product? and if so are they game used? Thank you

  6. No Drew it is not ! Nothing will top Treasures !! Read the Bios and reviews !! National Treasures basketball Patches are so much nicer and will still sell better !!

  7. Looks great! Two more weeks, and just I can’t wait!! And I have a feeling you guys have a few surprises still with this product (in addition to Damian Lillard on-card auto)…Hm?
