As the 2014 FIFA World Cup™ enters its dramatic final week, it’s only fitting that Panini America has its own grand finale planned to end the company’s ongoing 2014 FIFA World Cup™ Prizm “El Samba” auctions that kicked off at the start of the tournament. Over the course of the last month, company officials have launched 200 “El Samba” Prizm 1/1 auctions with cards featuring a special promotion-exclusive Brazil-themed colorway.

Some of the game’s biggest superstars were included among the 40 cards that hit the auction block on June 28 and July 4, respectively. The June 28 auctions end tomorrow, headlined by Cristiano Ronaldo’s “El Samba” 1/1. Superstars such as Lionel Messi, Neymar and Thomas Muller will close the non-signed portion of the “El Samba” auctions one week from tomorrow. As expected, “El Samba” cards of those players already have generated lots of attention.

But it’s likely that the “El Samba” cards hitting the auction block tonight will generate the most attention between now and when they close in 10 days. The grand finale of Panini America’s World Cup Prizm “El Samba” auction lies within the 57 one-of-a-kind autographs — 47 singles, 10 duals — that begin tonight at 9 p.m. CST. Featured on the checklist are “El Samba” 1/1 autographs of Messi, Neymar, James RodriguezClint Dempsey, Arjen Robben, Pele, Tim Howard and more. There are also 1/1 duals of Ronaldo/Pele, Ronaldo/Pepe, Dempsey/Howard, Robben/Robin Van Persie and more.

So as the “El Samba” auction enters its final week, here’s a look at some of the blockbuster single cards remaining on the block as well as every autograph hitting the block tonight. Enjoy the gallery and stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for continued coverage.

  1. Very nice cards, but not cool that Panini are printing money for themselves. In my opinion these should either have been packed out or the funds from the sales should go to a charitable cause.
