Malik Monk Tips Off 2018 NBA Player of the Day Promotion with Special Appearance
MATTHEWS, N.C. — The 2018 Panini NBA Player of the Day promotion officially tipped off Monday evening when Charlotte Hornets rookie Malik Monk signed free autographs at AAA Collectibles in Matthews, N.C., for more than 200 collectors, Hornets fans and Kentucky Wildcats supporters.
In addition to signing exclusive Panini NBA Player of the Day photos featuring Monk’s 2017-18 NBA Hoops Basketball Rookie Card, the rookie sharpshooter signed jerseys, basketballs, posters, hats and anything else collectors put in front of him. Additionally, nearly every guest posed for a selfie with the rookie star and one fan even had Monk greet her son via FaceTime.
After the hourlong free autograph session, Monk and AAA Collectibles owner Bob Williams hosted games of Pack Wars and trivia for 25 of the store’s best customers who also received free T-shirts, Panini NBA POD promo packs and more.
Beginning this week, more than 400 hobby shops across the country began hosting the Panini NBA Player of the Day promotion in their shops. A full list of participating shops is available at the hobby shop locator.
“The opportunity to reward my best customers with this unique opportunity to meet the Hornets’ first pick in the NBA draft and get an autograph from a future superstar is truly special,” Williams said. “The Panini NBA Player of the Day program helps us sell a lot more packs. In fact, it’s probably led to a 20 to 30 percent bump in sales for our Panini America NBA basketball packs.”
