Updated Gallery: Panini America Initiates Pre-Packout for 2011-12 Prime Hockey

I returned to the office this morning following a whirlwind five days at the 2012 National Sports Collectors Convention to an email inbox overflowing with an array of stunning images from the upcoming 2011-12 Prime Hockey release.

I returned to the office this morning following a whirlwind five days at the 2012 National Sports Collectors Convention to an email inbox overflowing with an array of stunning images from the upcoming 2011-12 Prime Hockey release.

Turns out Karvin Cheung, Panini America’s Director of Product Development for the NBA and NHL, is spending time at the printing facility today scrutinizing some of the product’s myriad mystifying memorabilia inserts in advance of next week’s packout. Thankfully, Cheung’s been kind enough to keep us updated all morning long via email.

Just so you’re seeing what he’s seeing, here’s a gallery of the previews he’s provided thus far today. As Cheung continues to send images, we’ll update this gallery as the day progresses. Until then, enjoy.

  1. Every time I see previews, I look forward to this product even more Tracy. you guys are simply killing it. Just curious what kind of Rick Nash I will have to chase?

  2. Thanks for another look at those Mikita patches! Very cool to see the peek at the cut swatches – and now the finished cards.

  3. I was hoping they would have been out for the National!! Amazing looking patches. Mikita is great, but for some reason I really like the Robitaille, I may have to go for all four pieces and I’m not even a Kings fan.

    1. On another note, this product looks like the best hockey release this year!! I really enjoyed Rookie Anthology..but I think this might beat it! You saved the best for last!

  4. Those images are great, the Blackhawks logo deal is amazing and the captains “C” card are sweet.

Great work at the show, you guys were the hardest working guys there. No wonder you are pulling away from the pack!

  5. You guys are getting as BAD as In The Game with NO PICTURES OF PLAYERS on the card. Please tell me this is the ONLY time you will ever do this!!!

    1. Appreciate your feedback. While we understand your concern, there are player images on the back. And on the rare occasions when we go with no photo, it’s only so we can maximize the size of the swatch on the front.

      1. I am all for this… You couldn’t get swatches and a set like this without doing so. Great to know the images are on the back as well! Nice touch, can’t wait to see it in person and go earn some money so I can crack a box!

  6. WOW! Amazing job with putting the patches into the sets where we can now “put them together” This is gonna create so much more hype in the secondary market. I really hope you guys continue to do this with at least the super high-end products for every sport!

  7. Never been much into hockey and I’m still not even after seeing these amazing looking cards, but I can see the appeal to hockey collectors. Too bad football and baseball doesn’t have patches like that. Great looking cards Panini. Hope you had fun at Nationals Tracy. Hopefully I’ll get to make it there to ChiTown next year, just waiting to see if the Mayans had it right.

  8. I really do not know what to say, this is just an amazing set. I bet there will be some hardcore collectors working to complete some of those Captains Cloths and logo sets.
