Must-See Gallery: Panini America Launches Packout for 2012-13 Prime Hockey (Part 2)

Preparing a collecting juggernaut like 2012-13 Prime Hockey for release is a process that knows no days off. So while many collectors spent Saturday morning easing out of bed and into the first day of their weekend, Panini America NHL Brand Managers Chris Barr and Karvin Cheung were at the company's production facility overseeing the Prime packout process. Oh, the sights they saw.

Preparing a collecting juggernaut like 2012-13 Prime Hockey for release is a process that knows no days off. So while many collectors spent Saturday morning easing out of bed and into the first day of their weekend, Panini America NHL Brand Managers Chris Barr and Karvin Cheung were at the company’s production facility overseeing the Prime packout process. Oh, the sights they saw.

In fact, Barr was so blown away by the proceedings that he temporarily hijacked the Panini America Twitter account to provide collectors with an unparalleled peek into the process. It was like having seats on the glass to witness hockey hobby history.

That’s just one example of the simply sublime Tweets coming from the packout process earlier today. We’ll have many more arresting visuals to share in the coming days as we countdown to the release of 2012-13 Prime Hockey on August 28. For now, though, we’re going to continue our series of pre-packout galleries that began earlier this week. If you loved Wednesday’s Part 1, then prepare to have your socks blown off by today’s Part 2.

Enjoy . . . and stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance in the coming days for continued coverage of 2012-13 Prime Hockey.

  1. This is unbelievable. I cannot believe some of the cards that are being produced by you guys. You guys have taken every NHL game used item possible and have made it into a card. From the “Seams Incredible” subset to the “Prime Colors” subset you guys have just displayed an extraordinary array off hockey cards in the gallery above.

Tracy, I would like to Thank You and the entire Panini America community for making this product one of the best products I’ve ever seen.

  2. You guys really outdid yourself with Prime this year. Last year’s was amazing but you really took it up a notch this year. Can’t wait!

  3. Are the Prime Ties coming back this year? I haven’t seen or heard any mention of those and they were one of your most popular subsets last year

  4. Gordie Howe WHALERS? Stupendous!!

Absolutely stunning patches! Loved seeing that Lindros 2-card C!!

On the auto-patch cards near the end of thew gallery, I appreciate the differently-shaped window. I know it is a small thing, but it really stands out against the multitudes of square windowed patch cards.

  5. Wonder how they put Gordie on the back of the Hartford jersey. Aren’t they only to say last names? Still unreal patches, and I can’t wait to see more. Need some Pittsburgh Prime colors or Prime ties in my life. everyone will love this product like last year. Panini has become a big time power house when it comes to hockey. Great stuff guys
