Optic in Prizm and Prizm in Optic? | 2021-22 Prizm NBA Basketball (Update)

Panini America produces millions of cards every year, and with those sort of production numbers there’s bound to be a mistake made from time to time. Believe it or not, the primary power behind Panini America – are humans, and we all know humans aren’t perfect.

When I have a chance – I love to let the Hobby know about these minor oversights, because as a collector myself – I would want to know the story. Which brings us to this… There was a mix-up during the pack out of 2021-22 Prizm NBA Basketball, and this cool 75 Years of the NBA insert set was inserted into packs of 2021-22 Prizm Basketball. This insert set is being used in multiple basketball products of ours this year, and unfortunately the Optic version of the set was dropped into Prizm packs. See card images below. The only difference is the brand logo near the bottom of the card. In response to the issue, Panini has decided to lean into it. So the Optic version (left) will be in Prizm and the Prizm version of the cards (right) will be in Optic.
