Package Deal: Panini America to Deliver 1/1 Packaging Printing Plates at the National

While the collecting world anxiously awaits complete details on Panini America's wrapper-redemption program for the 2012 National Sports Collectors Convention (which will be revealed in the coming days), there is at least one unique aspect we can shed some light on right now.

While the collecting world anxiously awaits complete details on Panini America’s wrapper-redemption program for the 2012 National Sports Collectors Convention (which will be revealed in the coming days), there is at least one unique aspect we can shed some light on right now.

For the first time ever, Panini America will deliver 1/1 printing plates from product packaging through special instant-win redemption cards randomly inserted into National wrapper-redemption packs.

Panini America officials have cut down the printing plates used to manufacture boxes for such products as 2012 Score Football, 2012 Elite Football, 2011-12 Limited Basketball, 2011-12 Rookie Anthology Hockey and 2011 Donruss Elite Extra Edition Baseball and turned them into truly rare collectibles that will appeal equally to player collectors, set collectors and fans of unique hobby history.

Sharp in more ways than one, these printing plates will provide yet another reason for collectors to make the Panini America booth in Baltimore the must-see destination of the National. We’ll preview tons more reasons in the coming days, so stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for those details.

Until then, enjoy this package of preview pics from Panini America’s unprecedented prizes. (Say that five times fast.)

  1. Wow awesome addition to the promo and would look great in anyones collection..but what about those of us who never get to go to The National?

  2. Now thats thinking outside the box! Love it! Wish i could attend Saturday but we will be headed back north

  3. I gotta be honest, these are REALLY AWESOME pieces….even with printing plates a common thing nowadays, these have that outside the box feel to them and I see them being EXTREAMLY well recived by collectors, both the lucky ones who instantly win them and when some of them hit the secondary market!

    THUMBS UP PANINI!

  4. Bought some 2012 Panini Wrapper Redemption National Convention of Nugent (stated print of less then 5 for each color PLATE) and received flimsy foil like cards. Did I get duped or were there “plates” given out in Baltimore??

    1. Those aren’t “printing plates” in the traditional sense. Those are called “progressions,” paper cards that are used to get the ink colors up to register on the production line.
