Panini America Appreciates the Huge Hobby Splash of Golden State’s Leading Men
Throughout the 2015 NBA Playoffs so far, no one has made more waves than the Golden State Warriors and their swish-splashing, laser-sighted leading men — Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. In last night’s 115-80 trouncing of the Houston Rockets to take a 3-0 lead in the Western Conference Finals, the Splash Brothers combined for 57 points, paced by an epic 40-point performance from Curry, the 2014-15 NBA MVP.
With 11 victories in their 13 postseason games to this point, the Warriors have simply reinforced the dominance that saw them win a league-best 67 games during the regular season. And despite timely contributions from up and down the roster, the Warriors are one win away from the NBA Finals thanks chiefly to the combined performance of their dynamic duo.
But no matter how scorching Curry and Thompson have been in averaging 29.9 ppg and 19.4 ppg, respectively, during the 2015 NBA Playoffs, their best Panini America trading cards have been even hotter. In recent weeks, one of Curry’s 2009-10 National Treasures Basketball Rookie Cards sold for more than $6,000. Several other Curry cards have put up similar impressive numbers recently. As for Thompson, one of his 2012-13 National Treasures Basketball RC parallels sold recently for more than $900. Clearly, Curry, Thompson and the Warriors are on fire on the court and in the hobby — and every splash only fans the flames.
