Now that Panini America’s 2014-15 Prestige Basketball release and its various SKUs have had the chance to make their mark in Target stores across North America, we thought now might be a good time to take a look back with a retail review of sorts showcasing the highlights and differences between the Premium, Plus, Blaster and Hanger configurations.

In the comprehensive gallery that follows, we open one box of each to provide a visual examination of what collectors can expect — if you haven’t already experienced the product for yourself — from the first-ever Target-exclusive Prestige Basketball release.

Premium boxes carry a $199.99 SRP and deliver four autographs, one memorabilia card and cards printed on rainbow holofoil stock. Plus boxes carry a $64.99 SRP and deliver 10 packs (six cards each), three autograph or memorabilia cards and cards printed on mirrorboard stock. Seven-pack Blaster boxes (10 cards per pack) carry a $29.99 SRP and provide one autograph or memorabilia card per box and cards printed on traditional glossy stock. Ten-card Hanger boxes carry a $9.99 SRP and deliver one mystery Rookie Card per box.

  1. You are showing some boxes with the “red label” on them, which were boxes that were probably opened and missing some hits? those are selling for less but i would be hesitant on buying them.

  2. I really like the /25 die cut cards and I really like the idea of this release and the various pack levels at Target, but I have bought two Plus boxes now and have been pretty disappointed by the execution. The Ryan Kelly, Greg Buckner, Thad Young auto experience was bad enough to keep me from buying anymore.

Also, is there a way to know which products are using the “Rewards” points? Not seeing much in the way of inventory update and not a fan of paying shipping for something that should have been packed out to begin with. Would like to avoid these in the future.

    1. Sorry to hear you had a few less-than-ideal experiences. Obviously, hitting the “right” box here or there can often impact the perception of any product greatly. We’re in the process now of some major inventory additions; you should start to see many more options in the near future. In terms of which products will have Rewards Points, that’s a fair question. Obviously, it’s our goal to keep those at a minimum and also our goal to not use them in place of the bigger superstars’ autographs; we’ll continue refining the process and strive to make it as user-friendly and as beneficial to the collector as possible. Stay tuned.

      1. I agree with your “Right” box sentiment, but the plus box break above is just as bad. (OK the Exum is awesome, but the Auto/Memb illustrate my point)

As far as Rewards Points, would it make sense to list them as a possible insert on the pack/box?

  3. Target’s price is $200 for Premium yet I’m seeing sealed Premium boxes online for as little as $95-$125 apiece. How is that possible?

  4. One other Target/Panini question. NBA Sticker Books. Are they hitting retail? I haven’t seen them at Target or any dollar stores.

  5. Like this collection isn’t hard enough to get..?? Now they make two sets… The exclusive/ expensive foil set and a standard.. If you want to buy the standard collection good luck. Only available in $30 booster box and singles packs that that have always been picked over by the pack vultures by the time I get there. Took 18 booster boxes to finally get an auto.. Cant buy it by the box from a real card store like I used to. very very..extremely disappointed in this decision go retail only.. If this happens next year I will no longer be a prestige collector. I guess I need to find some other people to trade with since standard cards are limited.

  6. Eric, you’re short by one set. There are 3, count ’em 3, sets of Prestige this year: Standard/regular, Plus & Premium. They’re all tough and pricey to chase. Bon Chance. I’d do some trading with you of Regular but don’t think they’ll allow an email on here.
