Panini America Delivers a Stunning Pre-Ink Peek at 2013-14 National Treasures Hockey

If the 2013-14 product season really is the last you'll see of Panini America on NHL ice for quite some time, the company plans on going out with a seismic collecting bang -- the kind that can only be delivered by a product boasting the name "National Treasures." Indeed, the first-ever National Treasures Hockey release may also the last National Treasures Hockey release. But what a way to go . . .

If the 2013-14 product season really is the last you’ll see of Panini America on NHL ice for quite some time, the company plans on going out with a seismic collecting bang — the kind that can only be delivered by a product boasting the name “National Treasures.” Indeed, the first-ever National Treasures Hockey release may also the last National Treasures Hockey release. But what a way to go . . .
Earlier this week, Panini America HQ was on the receiving end of a spectacular first shipment of 2013-14 National Treasures Hockey cards. The cards were quickly counted, cataloged and QC’d before being expedited to the players on them to receive on-card autographs. Luckily, Panini America NHL Brand Manager Chris Barr tipped me off to the cards’ arrival so I could snap a few pre-ink pics before the cards got sent out.

And judging from this first glimpse of 2013-14 National Treasures Hockey, well, the product has the goods to back up the legendary brand name. From NHL Shield 1/1s of the all-time greats to a variety of 1/1 booklets honoring the stars of the 2013-14 #PaniniDoubleRookieClass, there’s certainly a lot of firepower in the gallery that follows. Check it out for yourself and just imagine how nice these cards will look once they’re signed.

  1. Wow, amazing! I have never even come close to pulling a shield but these cards are simply a “must have.” As a hockey collector, I look forward to the days when Panini will be back going full blast with NHL licensed cards. Stupid NHL!

  2. Ummm, isn’t this pretty much the same product as Dominion? Don’t get me wrong it’s very nice, but is there going to be NT and Dominion this year?

    1. Dominion released in December, and National Treasures will be our final hockey release for the 13-14 season. It will be very different from Dominion in a variety of ways. This is just the tip of the iceberg to preview some of the first on-card autograph cards before they are sent to the players. We’ve got plenty of new designs and lots more cards to showcase in the upcoming months.

  3. OMG! So awesome. How can you make room for this before the 30 of June? The great finale for Hockey…. for this time.

  4. Looks awesome. Sucks that Panini is leaving hockey but looks as though they’ll be doing so on a high note!

  5. They do look great and it leaves me wondering about the rest of the iceberg if this is the tip. I know you don’t want to tip your hat but as a collector the first two pieces of info that I will be most interested in will be Price (cost not Carrie) and how many cards(read as configuration). You have so many great products this year I have had to budget carefully my card allowance but this is probably going to break the bank. As a hockey card collector almost exclusively I have to say it is going to be sad to see you go but I will be looking forward to following your non NHL endeavors. Thanks for the cardboard memories.

  6. Possible Greatest hockey product ever??? I’m looking forward to this one..not happy to see Panini lose hockey, but this should be epic. Release date?

  7. Great stuff. Lots of colorful swatches and logos!!
Just a little over 4 weeks to Panini’s Fathers Day! Will there be hockey in those promo packs??

  8. I still can’t get over the NHL pulling the license, this stuff is so good. Great work guys. I can’t wait for the month of June, with all the products to come from Panini every week will be a Holiday. Tracy, how many Panini products will you guys roll out in June? This National Treasures was long overdue, thanks for the gift.

  9. This is exactly the kind of effort I was anticipating for this release, if people can’t independently buy their own boxes I would definitely suggest finding a reputable group breaker to deal with and get in on a lower cost. Based on this gallery I believe this product could yield huge upside, can’t wait to see the finished product. Thanks Tracy!
