But there are also some downright fascinating memorabilia cards permeating the 2013-14 Intrigue Basketball checklist. Indeed, never underestimate the eyebrow-raising potential of multi-player memorabilia cards — especially the rare Prime versions ones nestled strategically within Intrigue’s Intriguing Pairs, Terrific Trios and Fearless Foursomes insert sets.

Take, for example, the first card in the gallery that follows — a memorabilia Mount Rushmore of sorts featuring prime pieces of game-worn gear from Panini America-exclusive superstars Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, Blake Griffin and Kyrie Irving. Once you get past that gem, just know that there are 65 other images to follow featuring compelling player combinations, multicolored pieces of memorabilia and serious pop.
Enjoy the gallery and stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for continued coverage of 2013-14 Intrigue Basketball.

  1. Cards look very nice but I dont quite get the multiple/combo player cards unless they are all on the same team or in very rare other instances like they are of the same nationality or from the same city and/or college

  2. Wow, those patches are amazing! I have always wondered are the jerseys hand cut? Or does a machine cut them? How much of the jersey gets used?
    Anyone know the process?

    1. Most standard-sized swatches are machine-cut. But for special “puzzle-piece” programs like Prime or National Treasures, there is an awful lot of hand-cutting. In addition, every memorabilia card — every . . . single . . . one — is built by hand. Over the course of a jersey’s lifespan, there’s not much that doesn’t get used.

      1. Wow, I didn’t know they are hand made! That is amazing. You should print that on the boxes.. I don’t think many people realize that, it must take a lot of time to make 1 single card. I am 32 and it’s news to me!! I bet you have some talented folks over there. Thank you Tracy for the personal response. Another reason I think Panini is the best out there. As far as products, variations, “one off items” like the black box, and your customer service. Kudos to all of you.

  3. I always enjoy prime mem galleries but I’m with Trevor on the multi-player cards unless they are on the same team. Even those can become disrupted as soon as the offseason hits, before I had the chance to go after the quad Colts swatch from this year’s NT Donald Brown was already in San Diego. Not really appealing any more, but I guess that’s the fickle nature of modern pro sports. Still some excellent designs and nice prime swatches, thanks for the gallery Tracy!

  4. I don’t know about other collectors but I am not fond of the (what I think are) All-Star patches (black with the small gold “spots”). They get used too much and particularly on the booklet memorabilia cards. Additionally, I think it’s a shame to have a “regular” jersey swatch like the Varejao piece on the quad Cavs card get slipped in amongst the other nice patches.
That being said, I do like the look of the cards overall. Nice job.

  5. Half of those Lebron and Kobe cards dont even look like patches…. Just because it has two colors doesnt make it a patch or even prime in my mind… is the side part of the jersey that has two colors and a raised edge considered a prime patch now a days?? Pretty lame if you ask me. Bring back the good patches.. especially for the good players. its like the worse the player is the better the patch. Oh its Lebron we can just put a two color piece of the side jersey but were gonna give McGee a sweet 5 layer patch. lol makes zero sense.

  6. Why do the Terrific Trios Brooklyn Nets relics appear to be from Chicago Bulls jerseys? As a big Nets fan I can’t recall seeing them wear any red since they moved to Brooklyn.
Back in the day when I used to buy multiple boxes of each NBA release I pulled a few jersey cards that were clearly the wrong team, but I can’t afford to do that anymore…now matter how much I may wish to be able to!
I wondered what those swatches with the small squares was from, guess it was all-star game based on other comments.
I do wish you’d put what each memorabilia piece is on the back of the cards. Just saying “material” doesn’t tell us if it’s from a jersey, shorts, shooting shirt, warm-ups, etc. Some of us care about that sort of thing. Most I would guess!
