Panini America officials are conducting the company’s annual distributor meeting this week, which just so happens to coincide perfectly with 2014-15 Gold Standard Basketball packing out. So instead of the normal Quality Control process, Panini America’s Basketball Product Development Team is getting a little QC cooperation from the top sports card distributors in North America while they’re in town.

Later this afternoon, the first two Quality Control cases of 2014-15 Gold Standard Basketball will be delivered to the distributor meeting location for what promises to be a scintillating pack-busting preview. Luckily, we happen to know a few people and were able to get an early look at one of the cases.

In the gallery that follows, we bring you a rare card-by-card examination of one case. Stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance tomorrow when we’ll give the second case the card-by-card treatment.

As you’ll see below, most 10-card packs of 2014-15 Gold Standard Basketball will deliver four autographs, one memorabilia card and one micro-etched parallel; some packs, however, deliver five autographs. Also permeating the product this year are several compelling parallels and subtle design enhancements that offer a rich, new take on the Gold Standard brand.

Check it all out below and stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for continued coverage of 2014-15 Gold Standard Basketball.

  1. Still my favourite basketball product! This set always delivers. By the way, I’m LOVING that Bruno Caboclo Rookie Dual Jersey Auto! Great picture of him, “the Brazilian Kevin Durant”

  2. As I was doing my typical polite scan of this gallery (since I’m not an NBA collector) I found myself slowing down more than usual then stopping altogether at the Shaq autograph towards the end. This looks to be a truly noteworthy set for the hoops release calendar this year, the way the gold foil make the prime mem swatches pop and the staggering amount of ink per box should make any collector adjust their hobby budget to include a box or two. Thanks Tracy!

  3. The cards are no doubt very, very nice. The only thing is that the stickers ruin these high end products!! I know it’s very hard to get all the cards hard signed, almost impossible, but even a product like National Treasures, the cards are always on the money except the stickers are an eye sore on a product hat costs over 200/300 a pack or box
