Panini America Honors American War Hero Brian Kolfage in 2013 Father’s Day Set

In the world of sports cards, we throw the word "hero" around quite a bit as a way to describe those players whose mesmerizing actions on the field, court or ice capture our imagination and keep us collecting. Then there are those real-life heroes -- firefighters, police officers, first responders and the men and women of the United States military who risk life and limb every day to protect us, to rescue us, to ensure our freedoms.

  1. Great job to Panini for honoring Brian! Brian I want to thank you for your service and sacrifice. I am a former airman myself, served 1974 -1979. Good luck to you and your family Brian.

  2. This is absolutely KICK Azz From Panini #RESPECT, REALLY Makes me wanna spend my money even more on the Panini #America Brand.I may buy a Topps single auto card just to be a completest on my RAVENS auto Collection BUT all major buys go to Panini, The Card quality and the thought that goes into them and US CUSTOMERS and the RESPECT you show US has Sealed the Deal,Ravens HYPE Man is a Panini Loyalist and will continue to support PANINI as long as i got Money to Collect. Crazy RESPECT for Honoring our WAR VETS who fought and sacrificed for US TO HAVE THE FREEDOM TO COLLECT PANINI Football,BasketBall,Baseball,Hockey whatever WE CHOOSE,Just that lil Freedom is so overlooked,Sum Countries dont allow kids to collect, We americans REALLY overlook how GREAT our Country is and How Thoughtless our BRAVE Troops are to sacrifice life to keep our Freedoms secure. Really Gotta a TON of Respect for the Panini Crew and Brand

  3. THAT is cool! I would have been honored to have pulled that card! 101’st here so CONGRATS Brian! WELL DESERVED!

      1. It was set as private when i tried to open with Twitter on my mobile, worked fine in safari though. As I said on twitter he is an inspirational dude and it was a great interview!

  4. I did a video recently where I mentioned how my father was the person who made it clear to me what the true definition of hero was and how it really had nothing to do with sports but rather people like first responders and soldiers like Brian here. I hope everyone takes the time to thank those who are enlisted for their service and treat them with the respect they deserve. Great job by you folks at Panini America in spotlighting Brian and his story, thank you for your service!

    1. Agreed 100%. My Dad was a WWII vet. I’ve taught students who have gone on to serve in the Army, Navy and Marines. Just saw one the other day who stopped in after serving 2 years in Kuwait. This is an awesome tribute and a fantastic idea! Well done Panini!!

  5. I think I found my “chase” card out of the entire 2013 Panini Father’s Day set. Tracy (or Brian!), any idea on the print run?

All I can say is I sincerely hope that Panini keeps this up! I absolutely love seeing these tributes to service. They’re just awesome.

  6. Panini once again brings it and great job honring a war hero. Once again Panini shows why they are on top of the card world.
