At this very moment, several members of the Panini America Baseball Product Development Team are at the company production facility across town diligently preparing for a most regal return. Cue the trumpets: 2015 Diamond Kings Baseball began packing out today. As a result, we have the distinct opportunity today to showcase some of the first live cards from this landmark reintroduction.

I ventured over to the production facility yesterday to grab some images of the epic Babe Ruth cards in the product. We’ll get to those in the coming days. Today, however, we want to provide just a taste of what this landmark release will offer when it arrives April 29. Each hobby box of 2015 Diamond Kings Baseball will deliver two autograph or memorabilia cards, two Framed base cards, two DK Originals, two Also Known As, two HOF Sluggers and 24 Rookie Cards.

As you’ll see in the gallery that follows, the product is steeped in historic memorabilia and artful renditions of the game’s greatest legends, biggest current stars and most promising rookies. We’ll have plenty more to preview in the coming days right here on The Knight’s Lance. But for now, we present an eye-candy feast fit for a king.

  1. There’s some beautiful looking cards right there! Got to be the best set you’ve produced since 2012 National Treasures!!

Some of those names… Lefty Gomez, Rogers Hornsby, Bill Dickey… I know a lot of the focus will be on Ruth but you’ve got some plenty of incredible old school players in there!

What will boxes be retailing for? I’ve got to pick some up and I’ll be pushing hard to get some of the other UK-based collectors on board too!

Congrats on such a great looking product!

  2. Love the continued evolution of the Diamond King product. The memorabilia inserts, particularly those hailing from days of Baseball Yore (Pennock, Dickey, Lefty, Hornsby)
are small…. but pack a meaningful historic punch. The Bob Clemente double mem’ card is magnificent, as are the Eckersley and Larkin auto-mem’ issues.
Truthfully, I’m hard-pressed to choose a favorite from the gallery, but I’ll go with the Pedro Martinez dual Mem’ auto. Although, the Larkin is gorgeous as well. On third thought, the Maddux dual swatch auto is so compelling…. Then again, I….. I like them ALL, can’t wait to square up a box to break!

  3. Going back and forth with this product because I’ve gone burned so many times this year by other Panini and Topps products. No question this year has been the worst in my hobby so far as the price on the boxes are not even coming close to the true value of the products. The $80 a box looks ok and I LOVE the design, plus it looks like some good autos in their.

PLEASE PLEASE PANINI DON’T SCREW THIS UP. LEAVE THE INCOME DISCREPANCY TO THE ECONOMY AND NOT THE HOBBY. BRING BACK THE VALUE.

  4. These cards are beautiful. Look forward to the end of the month and trying my luck on these. Love the old time players and hopefully I will hit some for my personal collection.
