National. Treasures. Two words. One product. Unlimited potential — and absolutely no introduction needed. Indeed, the crown jewel of the football collecting season every season is preparing for a record-breaking return when the 2012 edition arrives in late March.
Wielding a list of improvements and additions seemingly as sizable as the world’s longest trading card that appeared in last year’s release, Panini America officials will play on the strength of a spectacular rookie class in hopes of making 2012 National Treasures Football the most powerful edition in the brand’s proud seven-year history.

Perhaps even more newsworthy than the addition of Rookie Jumbo Prime Booklet Signatures and a fresh design for the set’s calling-card Rookie Signature Materials RCs is the addition of more on-card autographs than ever before, including several from veteran and retired superstars.
Both the NFL Greatest Signatures (retired legends) and Virtuoso Signatures (current veteran superstars) inserts feature on-card autographs numbered to 50 or less; in addition, the Rookie Signature Materials and Rookie Jumbo Prime Booklet Signatures also feature on-card autographs. 2012 National Treasures Football also provides a clever new twist on the Pro Football Hall of Fame-inspired “gold-blazer” patch autographs in updating the Enshrinement Signatures insert.
Each eight-card wooden box of 2012 National Treasures Football will deliver three autographs, three memorabilia cards and two additional base cards or parallels per box. The base set includes 100 current stars numbered to 99, 100 Legends numbered to 99, 100 Rookie Signatures numbered to 99 or less and 35 Rookie Signature Materials numbered to 99.
Other highlights include . . .

  • Rookie Colossal Jersey Number Signatures
  • Four new Printing Plate 1/1s for each Rookie Signature Materials card
  • Letterman Signatures numbered to 10 less

We’ll have plenty more on 2012 National Treasures Football right here on The Knight’s Lance in the coming months. Today, though, simply take a second to bask in the glory of this extended first look:

  1. So very excited…the Jumbo Rookie Booklets are going to be sick and I also like the combination of the die cut and pullout on the Hall of Fame autos. Can’t wait to see more!

  2. Yup, I’m all in, lol, great product as always. I don’t like everything you guys do, but I love that you have kept National Treasures as the ultimate high end football experience

  3. Finally on-card veteran and HOFer autos. Well done Panini. I see no reason for anyone to buy Two Star from the other guys anymore. Congrats!

  4. I am really disappointed by this. The patches of the RPA’s are smaller, the design is very plain and you have pull out autos. Pull out auto’s belong on a low end product not something like NT. The base design is ok and the booklet might turn out nice depending on the patches. Not what I was expecting at all from this product.

  5. Pretty epic return for this set, looks like some amazing work already from the Panini team. I will be very interested to see how the new crop of Colts rookies fall between the base auto RCs and the RSMS. Thanks for the early look Tracy!

  6. Personally like 2011 better… meaning the design. That being said kinda of stinks because this crop of rookies are better then last year. Im looking forward to Panini Black, it looks like the product I will buy from Panini. In my mind, it black and sleeker then the NT photos you’ve shown. I may be wrong, its only a few pictures.

  7. This product is always just so stunning but something with a family I could never afford. But love to drool over. Singles are out of reach as well. But at least get to see these tantalizing galleries!
